Best SAK?

What? No love for the Outrider?

Can't say I have a single favorite, but the ones that I use the most or that are in my kits are:

1) Outrider
2) Farmer
3) Rucksack

A like the locking blades of the Rucksack and Outrider and the Outrider has the scissors that I use quite often.

The NutSAK is at the top of the list as well...just because they're mine and I won't be trading them anytime soon:eek::D

That was a good one Brian!

There are three things that endear me to the corkscrew models-

1: it's hard to find a design that includes scissors and an end mounted phillips without the corkscrew.

2: I live in CA. We make wine, lots and lots of wine. There have been enough times where I've been the only one with a corkscrew that people I hang out with assume at this point that I am the only one who has one - even if I'm not. Plus, I like wine.

3: two tools on the regular 90mm SAKs require the corkscrew. The stick pin, which I love, and the small jeweler's screwdriver, which I use often enough.

The yeoman is the ideal 3 layer knife with scissors and end mounted phillips. It's no longer made but you can have various people put them together for you.

The outrider has spent years as my primary EDC SAK, only recently have I switched back to a yeoman style carry. I find that these days I always have a different saw solution and I carry my fixed blade most everywhere, so there's no real point anymore. I still have them around and it's always out with us for camping. I think in locking blades, the outrider is the ideal.

In my day to day office-suburb existence, the Compact is the best SAK. It won't weigh down your pocket, and has all the necessary tools for my daily use:

Plain knife blade
Combo tool (mostly for bottles, very light prying, and opening boxes to keep the knife blade clean from shipping tape gunk)
Large scissors (mostly for keeping my fingernails in check)
Corkscrew (the tiny phillips is handy, I do open a few bottles of vino every year)

And it has plus scales, so in addition to tweezers and toothpick you have a ballpoint pen and a straight pin.

If I need something heavier, I always have a multitool in the desk, car, pack, etc.

The most recent SAK here, the Vic Alox Pioneer Harvester, as others have suggested, may just have the edge in woods stomping utility with that spare knife. I guess my big complaint with it is they replaced the can opener with that nice blade - that might be more important than a cap lifter in the boonies, although the larger flat edge might come in handy splitting shavings & kindling. The scissors really wouldn't be missed that much by me - my main use seems to be cutting my nails into the quick... another path for infection.

What else can a corkscrew be used for? Seriously - I tried it on a bottle of wine and I still had to unscrew the cap...

Victorinox One Hand Trekker for me everyday.
I'm looking for a buddy SAK that will give me a scissor without too much width.
