Best SAK?

I always have a Victorinox Spirit in my bag, a SwissTool in my car, and a Mini-Champ on my keyring, but I also carry a Tinker as a sheeple friendly pocket knife, from time to time.

I don't believe there is just one design that you could call the "best" SAK, but I am a firm believer that Victorinox makes the best SAKs.

HAHAHAHA! Sorry Tony, that was funny as hell! I have the camper, but Farmer is on my short list.

Depends on what you need, like any type of knife.

Multitools aside, my two favorites are

1. The Alox Pioneer Pruner - because of its strong but slim construction & two very useful blades including a hawkbill.

2. The all-stainless Broker, which is a refined version of the Classic keychain knife.
It makes a terrific gift.

i tried to carry a Compact for a while after losing my Swisschamp in a cab in Vegas :(

i'm back to the Swisschamp now, it's a hard habit to break. i've used the saw a great deal, and the combo tool on the compact isn't as good as the small screwdriver on the can opener as a Phillips

as for the cork screw, as long as you have the can opener, you can basically do without the Phillips. and it also can hold the eyeglass screwdriver which ends up getting a lot of use by me

:thumbup:The E.P.+ is a Farmer with a short sheepfoot blade instead of a can opener and no lanyard/keyring attachment to dig into your hand during extended use. I sent my Farmer to college with my son. I figured it was P.C. enough. He said he uses it a lot and hasnt been hassled.--KV

Any SAK with the following features:

- large plain blade
- wood saw
- OTF reamer
- lanyard ring
- combination can opener and cap lifter

There isn't one, but it would be nice.

My RuckSAK still reigns supreme for me..then again, it's the only SAK I own. I gave my mountaineer to an ex-girlfriend...

I like both the Farmer and OH Trekker. However, I always have a tiny Classic in my pocket too (for the scissors and toothpick).

Bear Claw,
I already have a climber model, but I saw that combo yesterday morning and like the looks of the single blade utility knife. How do you like it? I just dont know if I want to buy it or not, so I was wanting some influence as to go ahead or leave it alone.

The fireman is my prefered blade. 2 large blades for redundancy, large saw reamer and ring. I just dont trust one blade.

Thanks to all who have contributed. Its always great to hear from those who know. I am still undecided on the purchase, though. I just can't get past my EDC's (benchmade griptilian & RAT Izula). I kinda fell as though I would be just wasting my money right now seeing as how I REALLLLLY want an RC-3 and am having to save up for it.

The best SAK is the one that suits your needs. There are so many combinations. I like to have a saw and scissors, so the Fieldmaster is my choice. You can add a Classic to just about any other SAK and get scissors, file, toothpick and tweezers, so a Classic and a Farmer work well together. A Classic and a Trekker make a great pair. I have a Farmer, but I think the Hiker is a better deal as you get the same tool selection, plus tweezers and toothpick, save a little money and a bit of weight too.

My favourite all-around SAK is the old Soldier model (produced untill 2009).
It's just so handy !I use every tool frequently.
Having a wood saw and second blade is nice too,so I use the Camper a lot when working on the yard.I also have one in my PSK.
The Classic is great for cutting my finger and toe nails :)

My favorite is the fieldmaster. It is the perfect Swiss Army knife in my opinion. A little thick for pocket carry tho so I usually carry mine in a sheath. The super tinker is also very good for urban carry, more pockatable. I am also growing very fond of my plain trekker, not the one hand opening model.
