Thing is, if someone starts a new one for the same topic, invariably they get told "use the search function", so no harm in bringing it up - especially since new knives come out all the time. :)

That is true.

Victorinox always makes the best slicing folders, and since they're the most readily available knife on this list they win 😉
My vic recruit, Gardner, pocket pal, and classics all slice extremely well.

My old imperial Barlow also slices extremely well ( imperial and colonials probably slice the best of any non sak traditionals , next to opinel anyways ).

These three (Para's thick bladestock makes the Endura the better slicer between those two)!

it's thin, it came mirror polished and zero grinded (or scandi grind)! Almost to sharp to use..

I have no trouble slicing a radish thin enough to read through, with an Opinel. Slicing meat is almost magical.

Sharp does not equal slicing ability. First time I've ever heard a scandi grind recommended for slicing.

It has a thin stock, so even if it's a scandi it glides through material easier than a FFG like the Izula. But yes, I see your point, and I don't say it's equal to the SAKs or Endura.

Opinels outslice almost anything when sharp because of thin stock and good geometry,and scary sharpness.Scandis are not best for slicing,although when sharp they slice,and are good sall around grinds for outdoors and woodwork.Helle is an excellent company,excellent heat treat on those blades,and I reground mine to almost full convex ! Victorinox paring knives slice better than anything Ive seen,hair whittling sharp with just few swipes on ceramics out of factory.
 
The Manix 2 and more recently the Becnchmade Freek are amongst the best slicers I have experienced
 
Bit of a tossup. At the high end of the scale, my Sebbie 21; mid-way, Recon 1; bottom, Opinel #8 Carbon.
 
For me, probably my William Henry E10. It's really very thin behind the edge and came quite sharp, so it sliced incredibly well from the jump.
 
As far as cardboard because other than paper the peels away, cardboard will show drag.... Ontario rat 1, Razor sharp out of the box, awesome slicer. Esee Izula great out of the box. Benchmade 940 great out of the box and Vic pioneer great out of the box. Spycerco Delica after I resharpened it. Spyderco Sage and paramilitary in s30v ok, sharp but not great for slicing through cardboard. Hinderer 3"xm-18 slicer did great, Zt0450cf is great. Ordered and recieved 2 Benchmade griptilians at the same time in 154cm, and both came dull, was not impressed at all. Its really tough to find a knife that will not slice as long as its sharp. Its more about how long it will perform and how the steel responds sharpening, what you are slicing and how comfortable the knife is after extended use. For instance if we are talking about slicing soft tomatoes, all my feedback will change.

Spyder Nilakka. I got the original version before they started putting a microbevel on it. The edge is so thin and the grind so shallow that it is just a frickin laz0r beam. The edge does seem very fragile though. I am still not sure what the intended application of the knife is.
