best vic for keychain?

The Classic, of course. In black. I like to keep my keychain as compact as possible. I usually use this knife several times a week, often more than once a day. Very useful little tool.

Rambler , basically a classic with a small ( #1) phillips driver/bottle opener . Since discovering the Rambler , I just don't understand why anyone bothers with the classic .

One of my best purchases ever. I can't believe how handy it has been for me!

The classic is the best keychain knife ever. Has just what you need on a day to day basis, but nothing else weighing it down. The SD nailfile blade does triple duty or more, making the extra blades of the rambler and other 58mm unneeded. The SD tip works so well on phillips screws, that not too long ago I fixed the clothes dryer door latch with it. The little plastic do-hicky in the door broke, and I went to look it over to see what tools I would need. It was just some small phillips screws holding the sheet metal door pieces clam shelled together. I used the SD tip to take out the screws and the door halves apart. Put in the new part and that was it. I even figured put how to use the SD nailfile blade to open my cold Corona's without harming it. Takes a few seconds of some gentle use, but it works fine. Now I don't need a dedicated bottle opener. Since then, my son has showed me how to use a Bic lighter or a house key to open beers.

My classic does 99% of what I have to do in a day. For the other 1% I improvise. I've used the tip of a tweezer blade to snug up a loose screw in sunglasses. Just tighten untill you can feel or see the tweezer tip just begin to flex a bit. That will hold it for a while without hurting the tweezers.

For years now, the classic has been my most used pocket knife. After watching my better half torture her classic for all kinds of things it was never designed for, that only a woman could think of, I became a convert of the simplest of the 58's.

And they come in soooo many great colors!:D

And I love that if I loose or break my classic, I can pick up a new one at the next Target or Walmart I pass for nearly the price of a fast food lunch.

+1 . The practical difference in weight and size between Rambler and Classic is so slight that it makes no sense to pass on the small magnetized ph screwdriver, the only Vic driver I actually like. The bottle opener is another story, but still easier to use than any makeshift method I've found. No matter what else I might be carrying, a Rambler is always with me.

Silvertech signature lite. It has all the same stuff as teh classic, but subs a LED light and Pen for the tweezers and toothpick. Plus it has ice looking silver scales.

Wenger Esquire for me!

+1 on that!

I like the Wenger better than the Vic due to the placement of the key ring attachment - it's easier to use the knife blade & file with the keys hanging down at the bottom, rather than flopped over at the top. Works better for me anyway. It's probably a little more difficult to use the scissors on the Wenger for that same reason, bit I use the knife blade more often than the scissors. YMMV. ;)

why??? its not a victorinox and you dont get the flat head screwdriver on the file!!!

Everyone has a Classic, so I like to be different :D

Also the topic is about the best vic (Wengers are Vics :D) for a keychain. In this situation, we assume that there are keys or some other objects attatched to the knife. In this case (Coyote said it perfectly), it's a lot easier to use the knife and file without the keys flopped over the top.

The Manager is also pretty good:

(I threw a Vic with a flat head screwdriver in just for you softrockrenegade).

Ihave a black Classic on mine and my wife has a red one.
She couldn't imagine needing a knife til I gave her the Classic. Now she tells me all the time " I used my little knife today."
