The classic is the best keychain knife ever. Has just what you need on a day to day basis, but nothing else weighing it down. The SD nailfile blade does triple duty or more, making the extra blades of the rambler and other 58mm unneeded. The SD tip works so well on phillips screws, that not too long ago I fixed the clothes dryer door latch with it. The little plastic do-hicky in the door broke, and I went to look it over to see what tools I would need. It was just some small phillips screws holding the sheet metal door pieces clam shelled together. I used the SD tip to take out the screws and the door halves apart. Put in the new part and that was it. I even figured put how to use the SD nailfile blade to open my cold Corona's without harming it. Takes a few seconds of some gentle use, but it works fine. Now I don't need a dedicated bottle opener. Since then, my son has showed me how to use a Bic lighter or a house key to open beers.
My classic does 99% of what I have to do in a day. For the other 1% I improvise. I've used the tip of a tweezer blade to snug up a loose screw in sunglasses. Just tighten untill you can feel or see the tweezer tip just begin to flex a bit. That will hold it for a while without hurting the tweezers.
For years now, the classic has been my most used pocket knife. After watching my better half torture her classic for all kinds of things it was never designed for, that only a woman could think of, I became a convert of the simplest of the 58's.
And they come in soooo many great colors!
And I love that if I loose or break my classic, I can pick up a new one at the next Target or Walmart I pass for nearly the price of a fast food lunch.
