Best weapon-like folder?

A 4" folder is not a weapon. That's what everyone is getting at. At home, you can have whatever weapons you want. A gun is what you need. Unless you are a prohibited person like me, get a gun. I keep large knives and bludgeons throughout the house. Did you watch my video?

I just asked for a 4" folder for my collection, and of the genre self-defense.

i disagree, while the law may not deem it one in some states in trained hands a 2" knife can tear a artery open...for close combat i know i can trust my knife and its under 4" long, when it comes to self defense with a knife you are not relying on reach. You are not going to carry a gun everywhere, and you are not going to carry some behemoth folder everywhere.

Some people carry a gun with them everywhere, and if they can't carry they won't go there. I carry a gun 95% of the time. It is very rare that I go somewhere that I am not allowed to carry one like the court house. I even carry one if I have to go onto the University campus to pick someone up which technically you are not allowed to do. The saying of "I'd rather by judged by 12, than carried by 6" comes to mind. Maybe YOU won't carry a gun or big folder everywhere, but that is your choice and others make different choices.

Haha, at first when I read "offhand" and then a list a knives I thought you were talking about dual wielding knives.

Best weapon like folder in my opinion is a 2" SAK.

Or any tiny slipjoint for that matter.

After all, if the TSA takes it away from you at checkpoints, it must be a weapon!

Can't you have your record expunged to qualify for an LTC?

Nope. Expunge is state only. My record will still show on federal databases.

I'm pretty sure I'll have to get an attorney for this. My conviction was for commercial burglary (shoplifting with intent) back in 6-1-06 and resulted in no prison time but released on 2 years felony probation. I'll probably wait 10 years from my discharge of probation date.

Ah ok. You would have to wait one more year to try anyway(5 yr min wait after release or probation ending). Luckily though, I believe your charges qualify. EDIT...I got confused, you'd have to wait a few years.

So your looking for a 4" tactical folder? That's all you needed to say;)

Any tool can be a weapon in a clinch/pinch. Get a waved knife. For the value, I'd try a fully serrated waved Endura.

4 inches for defense of your home?!
Hmm... If I came to rob / attack you at your home, I'd come far more prepared than you, if indeed you're planing to use a 4' FOLDER.
I'd got for my Katana, Bowie or any other large Dagger I've got in my house.
If indeed it was enough to defent your home, though, I'd go for a Spyderco Military, Barong or Civilian.

i am not against legal carry, far from it and I respect each persons right to do so...I personally evaluate where I am going before I leave and the need for a weapon or a tool. I wont go into a major city without a weapon, but around the small town i'm in when stateside I can be perfectly safe without, if the need arose for a firearm everyone in the town has a rifle in their truck just about.
