Beverages and Blades - Traditional of Course

Such a great combo!!!

My #15 Crown Lifter and a little morning pick-me-up. (There were no crowns to be lifted in order to make the espresso; it's just what I have in my pocket this morning. :D)

Great pic of your Crown Lifter Barrett

Lovely Lambsfoot pic Mike

I took this one the other day. Like a few of the other small breweries here, Northern Monk have stopped fining some of their cask beers. Tastes the same - with your eyes closed! :D

After a busy week, I’m declaring an early quittin’ time and making the most of this unseasonably warm weather*. The grill is cleaned, the charcoal is stacked in the chimney, and I’ve got about an hour to enjoy a beer and a new book before lighting the grill and cooking dinner before the Olympics Opening Ceremony airs on TV.

Have a fantastic weekend everyone!

* With apologies to those who have been hard hit by winter this year. Truth be told, I wish it would rain. We really need it.

GT, that Neapolitan Milk Stout sounds interesting. Their website says it contains all three flavors of Neapolitan ice cream. I’ve had beers with hints of chocolate and vanilla before, but I can’t say I’ve tried one with a strawberry flavor before. :D

I agree with your assessment of the jigging and bolsters on your RR Canoe. Do both blades have a reverse etch like that? (Not sure if that’s the right term for that.)

GT, I would agree with Greg’s recommendation of Left Hand’s Milk Stout. It’s worth a try if you can find it.
...
Sorry about the delayed reply, Barrett. As you may be finding out, time becomes more precious if you get a stretch of snowy days and have to set aside at least an hour you hadn't really planned on for snow removal!

I couldn't really taste the strawberry in the Neapolitan Milk Stout, but another stout in the sampler pack was called something like Blueberry and Maple Stout, and the blueberry taste in that one was inescapable!

The Rough Rider canoe I photoed with the Neapolitan Milk Stout has the reverse etch only on the mark side of the main blade. The other 3 blade sides are mirror polished stainless.

Thanks for another Left Hand Milk Stout recommendation. I can find their Milk Stout Nitro; is that essentially the same thing as the non-nitrogen-infused version??

So I have owned and carried this Camillus 51 everyday for a month now. I think that call for a drink. The question is what? The TX is usually reserved for a couple in, the Colorado honey goes over ice cream, the Jack...well it’s not one of those days, the Ranger Creek and Garrison Brothers is special occasion, I’m out of my everyday Buffalo Trace and the Evan Williams is 17 years old and never been opened.

Sammy Hagar puts out good tequila

I agree, it’s surprisingly not bad. I like the Blanco. Not a bad looking Barlow you’ve got there, either.

I’m always skeptical of “flavored” beers, particularly unusual ones. Rogue had a Maple Bacon Ale I tried a few years ago; probably the worst beer I’ve ever had. Tasted like Waffle House dishwater.

I’ve had both the Nitro and standard Left Hand Milk Stout. I’ve never compared them side by side, but they’re both good. If you can get the Nitro, go for it!

Staying inside on this cold Sunday afternoon and enjoying a good beer, knives, stone axe, and A Gunsmoke marathon on the tv:thumbsup:
Almost forgot a pot of good chili on the stove!

Sounds like a perfect afternoon Rob, cool pic

LOL! Me too, I can't remember who made it, but I once tasted a curry-flavoured beer, it was absolutely disgusting! o_O

Waffle House dishwater doesn't sound like a beverage of choice! :(
Thanks for the Nitro input, Barrett. I think I'll pick up a 6-pack of the Left Hand Nitro Milk Stout next Saturday when I buy groceries, even though I'm basically unidextrous, can do almost nothing with my left hand, and no ancient Roman would think of calling me sinister!
