Beverages and Blades - Traditional of Course

Your #56 is aging nicely. Great stag on that one

The Shuffler is hard to kick out of my pocket!

Glad to see your enjoying the Shuffler  natural canvas micarta is one of my favorite cover materials on a hard working knife. How were those two brews?

Ouch! :(

Had another pint of this Sheffield ale this afternoon

Looking good

This Left Hand Milk Stout came highly recommended. I found it very good, but quite unique. If I like a beer, it's usually because of the taste in my mouth. The mouth feel/taste of this was nothing special, but when I swallowed, Oh Mama!! :p
I often drink my beers during my evening meal, and usually eat several bites of food, then "guzzle" in quick succession 2 or 3 swallows of beer. But with this stout, I had to change my style so that I could do one swallow at a time and pause to enjoy the taste!:thumbsup:

(No lambs were harmed in the taking of this photo, but my lambsfoot knife had a traumatic experience that I hope to relate in the Guardians of the Lambsfoot thread sometime before the end of the upcoming weekend. :( Sharp-eyed readers of THIS post may see a preview of what I mean! o_O)

That is a serious bummer GT  I once did the exact same thing to a brand new TC Barlow.... I was not happy at all, but did manage to do a really nice repair in the long run. If your interested in trying to fix it vice re covering shoot me a PM and I’ll give you the details.

Thanks pal, I've been enjoying a few of that company's beers on draught recently. That was the least interesting of them I'm afraid, very smooth, but rather bland I thought. Nice repair job there :)

How are you liking your 43?
I like it a lot and so much that I have 2 more on the way in Brazilian cherry and a camel bone and Cocobolo on reserve
Big knife but carry’s well and when in a leather slip can’t tell the difference between that and a much smaller carry .

Sweet! I'm on standby for a stag, and have a cocobolo on reserve. I'm hoping the stag comes through!

W:eek:W, @donn , what's the ABV (or should I ask about "sugar by volume") for that concoction??;)

A DIPA and yard work last Sunday with these two in tow-
That's a toiling twosome, StoneBeard StoneBeard ! The lambsfoot gives an honest day's work, and I really like the tank-like Rough Rider camp knives, too!:cool::thumbsup:

Oof. Still looking good!
Ouch! :(

Thanks for the "condolences", Taylor & Mike & Jack & StoneBeard.:thumbsup: I was hoping the damage wouldn't be too noticeable, but apparently you hawk-eyed gentleman had no difficulty spotting the result of a 5-foot fall onto patio flagstones! :( In reality, it really is quite minor cosmetic damage, and I feel fortunate that big chunks of horn down to the liners didn't fly off on impact.:rolleyes: PM inbound to you soon, StoneBeard.:cool:;)

Thanks Jack  what’s the variance in style been recently with the offerings on draught and which have you most enjoyed?

Stag Saturday?

The stag on your #73 looks outstanding. From the Patina the knife looks well carried, do you think that stag has aged or changed much in the time you’ve had it? That brew doesn’t look bad either. Belching Beaver were the pioneers of the peanut butter stout out my way and I’ve enjoyed one from time to time.

Two of my favorites from a very busy weekend-

If it's any consolation GT, I did have to download the pic so I could zoom in. Horn is a lot more resilient than bone I think, but that's a nasty fall :(

The four I've had have each had their own style, three light, one darker. I've not had their Porter yet, but out of the four I've had; Seven Hills, Five Rivers, Crucible Best, and Blanco Blonde, my favourites were Seven Hills, a hoppy pale ale, and Crucible Best, which is an excellent classic Yorkshire ale. Five Rivers, a pale ale, was smooth, but lacked bite I thought, a little bland. Blanco Blond I found a little sweet for my palate, nice enough, but I moved on to another ale. Here's a link to the company's beers: http://www.sheffieldbrewery.com/beers/ I'm not sure if many will be familar with the word 'Blanco', but it was a powder, made up into a paste, and used to treat military webbing and equipment (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blanco_(compound)). I hadn't known it was made in Sheffield, but the Sheffield Brewery Co are based in the old Blanco factory, next to the River Don. Inevitably, there's a cutlery connection: https://www.blancoandbull.com/the-joseph-pickering-sons-story/

I had a bit of a session with a mate yesterday, starting off with the Blanco Blonde ;)

Tell us more about the Nikka Whisky; is it barley malt or something else, peated or not, etc.?

(blade content)

I'm afraid it's not generally available in the US Jeff :( I thought it was fantastic, but I must admit that my memory is not very good at the best of times, and was particularly challenged last night ;) I hope you'll excuse me substituting some links
