Beverages and Blades - Traditional of Course

D Duckdog Stuart, you have a great cellar there evidently:cool: I wouldn't mind tunnelling into myself, dig dig!:D

Thanks, Will, and it would be fun to share if you could tunnel on over. My wife and I collected wine back when we could afford to do so, i.e., before having kids, and we got some good ones at great, in retrospect, prices. Unlike knives, wines have a finite life, so as they gracefully (sometimes) age, we need to cull the collection. Our adult progeny enjoy helping with that part, as do our friends. Like parting with a nice knife that you obtained early on at a great price and which has appreciated in monetary value beyond your dreams, you just close your eyes and swallow hard.

I am, Jack, and your offer to find a supplement is very kind and appreciated. Two is better than one sometimes.

Dude, they need a good calendar, and I am unanimous in that view. I'll order a Sam's Octoberfest tomorrow in support of your search. I'm just one man, but i do what I can.

Will Power Will Power Will, I noted your concern for the recent bonanza of beer in this thread, so (to my wife's delight) I ventured down into the wine pit (like the MOP pit) for our dinner tonight. The G. David Languiole is relatively new knife (sticker still on handle for now), the wine not so much. My wife thanks you for prompting me to pull this cork (the wine in the glass is from a more prosaic bottle so I could have a drink while the Bordeaux took a breather). À votre santé.

I just had a very quick root around in one of my spare bedrooms, and came up with seven cigarette cases (plus an eighth already promised to another member here)! I'll take some pics, and you can choose one Stuart :)

You have great taste in wine, as well as knives my friend, I kept a good cellar at one time myself :)

Getting ready for fajitas

Great pic Joshua (I'm sure there'll be more to come) :)

Some months ago, a close friend sent me an old beer he had been given after performing a gig in Belgium, it was from the 1980's. At the same time, he told me that he and his partner had a ween on the way, so I put it away to toast the happy event. Well, I heard from him today, and the wee lad came into the world at the weekend :) They still haven't decided on a name (only had the best part of nine bloody months)!

I opened the ale tonight, and it is absolutely gorgeous, rich and complex, like a good wine, really quite incredible :) So Slainte wee man, and tell your folks to get thinking! ;)

I think I'm going to have to get the Lagavulin out! ;)

Maybe suggest "Lagavulin" as a name for the lad. Or "Laphroaig."

Not sure it's my place....but I just might! ;) :D

My mate is from Leith (Edinburgh), very fond of a whisky himself, and also a professional musician and song-writer - you'd think he could come up with a name! Poor lad will probably end up being named after the entire 1978 Scottish World Cup squad! :D

Thanks, Jack for your generous suggestion, your kind compliments on my claret (I understand the meaning of "kept"), your loving concern for the wee lad's moniker, and for your suggestion that we up the whisky/whiskey ante.

As you can see by the whiskey/ice ratio, I dawdled a bit before I got this together. The peril of working with volatile spirits.

All that's missing is Fred Flintstone.

Pretty cool, Stuart. Had a friend (big Elvis fan) who had an Elvis whiskey bottle. He would never let me open it, though! Bet Possum George woulda shared with me.

Thanks, Prester John. I didn't intend to open it, but my neighbor and good friend was over one night and we heard Mr. Jones' song, and we had ice and glasses, so . . . I now fill it back up with Jim Beam Black label to stay true. BTW, we might add a little of this to whatever's in the crock pot in honor of Mr. Jones.
