Beverages and Blades - Traditional of Course

Thanks Jack. Outstanding Ebony Diamond Radio Jack ::thumbup: Lagunitas makes some great beers and their IPA is outstanding and very fairly priced. It's actually produced about ten minutes from where my folks live.

...

The Lambsfoot always looks amazing Jack  Really like the art on that bottle. Citra is by far one of my favorite hops as I enjoy the tangerine/ grapefruit IPAs. How was that Oakham?

Many thanks for the kind words my friend :) I am a fan of the Lagunitas IPA, and the price is reasonable - even here! :D  I agree with you on Citra also, the Oakham was quite light, very thirst-quenching, with gooseberry, grass, nettles...wish I'd taken tasting notes now ;) :)

The blue on the SBJ looks great. I imagine it's got to be close in color to some of the water out in Hawaii Very fitting color for an island companion. Deschutes makes really good beers. Obsidian stout being one of my favorites. How was the Stout Of The Union?

Thanks stonebeard,
The stout of the Union was good. Obsidian is also one of my favorites, and I think I prefer that over the Union. The Union was "different", like all the beers in the pack. While interesting, I still prefer the good ol stouts that I'm used to. It's fun to try these beer camp varieties though.

It goes down almost too easily.

After a number of unexpected crofter's sized drams last night, my son waking up sometime before seven was not really the Saturday morning I was hoping for; but as he munched his porridge and banana and drank his juice my day was brightened considerably by spying a little battered tin given me the day before by a mate of mine who had just ground some Ethiopian Sidamo.

the photo was inspired by another British forumite who shares my first name. The day improved dramatically from this point onwards.

Great minds must think alike Kris. Although I'm doing burgers and brats and a slightly different Ballast Point

Gentlemen, you have, between the two of you, described the arc of what I would count as a wonderful Saturday.

And, Kris, you've reminded me that I need to expand my Ballast Point repertoire. I almost always reach for the Sculpin when shopping.

As for me, I'm enjoying an appetizer while I deciding what to cook for the lunch main course.

Greg, you must have posted this while I was drafting my last post. Yet another Ballast Point brew for me to try! How is that one? Cream ale, coffee, and vanilla is not a combination I would have imagined on my own. :)

Actually very good. A change of pace from all the hops they usually use.

I was fortunate to visit the brewery on my trip to SD. This was one of the standouts that i hadn't previously heard of in my opinion. [emoji482]. Beautiful knife too. Your statement made me think of one of my favorite bottle caps.

Glad to hear Lagunitas is reasonable across the pond :thumbup:It's by far one of the most reasonable six packs here in the states. That Oakham sounds like a solid IPA. I will have to see f I can locate one.

My trusty Pioneer. Love this knife.

Nice pioneer! Despite all the new exotic craft beer I also still have appreciation for the American classics.

I havnt yet tried Anchors IPA but I have always enjoyed their classic steam beer. you are a lucky man to get it almost directly from the source. As always the Lambsfoot looks amazing:thumbup:

Excellent stout with my favorite garden worker.

Great looking Opinel, they are truly an affordable attractive work horse. I really enjoy all of Bear Republics offerings. While Lagunitas is 10 minutes south of my folks place Bear Republic is 20 minutes north. I have enjoyed many of their beers right in the tasting room.

Great looking stag and nice variety of Ballast Point:thumbup: for being so close to the brewery I still have not tried the watermelon dorado. What did you think about it?

Love that Radio Knife  I also enjoy the Calm Before the Storm. Mike Hess makes a very similar Vienna style cream ale with coffe that's worth a try if you enjoyed this one.

Stone also serves a black Wit in one of their SD tasting rooms, just like the citrus it's outstanding:thumbup: those peppers look great. What'd you end up throwing them in?

Nice Remington scout Buzz!

I had the mint so I decided to do something different. Been a minute since I had a Mint julep.

Wow, that drink looks tasty. That knife looks great in that photo. A lot more rotten than the other pic you posted next to the real rotten banana. It's a stunner. I know you prefer bigger blades, so how is this 14? I'm still on the fence

I spent the last few days diving head first into dyeing bone scales. I was 100% happy with the knife the way it arrived I just knew that this one would be far more forgiving to a first time tinkerer so I took a shot. I plan on posting some pictures and info on the process when I get a little more time but it will definitely be a more involved post since the process consumed several hours. As to the size I think it's a great little secondary blade or perfect in a pair of board shorts. I could see this one always riding in the watch pocket of a pair of jeans.

[emoji106] I knew it looked better. That's awesome. I can't imagine trying to dye a brand new knife. If I had your skills, maybe I'd think differently though. It sure does look great. I guess I may have to get one after all. I'm always in board shorts, so that sounds like the right thing to do [emoji1]. It just seems so similar in size to my case wish fits that role perfectly. I already missed the black micarta trying to decide. I don't think I'll make that same mistake with the oily creek
