Beverages and Blades - Traditional of Course

The Recruit will get its break time with the stones soon enough. In the meantime, duty calls.

Sircharlespiko, sorry to hear about the art change. I always did enjoy Maui's cans. Hopefully the art on this Stone colaberation will help bring the vibe up some. Some great beers, spirits and blades popping up here in the last few days. Really great to see all the Weihenstephaner beers. They are in my opinion one of the best traditional German brewed beers and the gold standard. Their kristall weissbier is one of my all time favorite beers

Thanks for the sympathy. I did see that collab bottle in sd a few months ago. Great art, but I sidn't get to try it. How is it? I also agree that there are great photos constantly being added to this thread.

Great looking beer, and an even better looking knife. That color sure is nice.
Thanks man ! Took me a few days to pick this one out waffling back and fourth between the different covers of the camel bone . Had one in my cart over night and then it got snagged from underneath me lol. So this was my second choice but might of been a blessing in disguise 👍

Nice one, man. Yeah, I really enjoy the Helles too. I've not tried the Pils yet, I think I'll pencil in a taster when it starts getting hot here again.

Looks like you have some nice traditionals upright in the case, hopefully with a bit of use and history to them.
What is the knife far right, front row. Looks like a friction folder. A big higonokami?

It's my small but loved collection I guess. :) I've had my phrases of in-and-out-and-back-in's with traditional knives and now it seems that I am in for good. Some have been lost during these shifts but that's the life of knife guys eh?

The knife in case is higonokami tsuchime:

EsLMtxc.jpg

It's pretty much the same size as regular higo, if not even tad smaller, but it has longer and stouter lever and thicker steel handle. It might look bigger because of that.
It is really beautiful knife in it's simplicity, and the brass pivot pops out nicely.

Did a quick drive by to one of the local breweries to grab a quick bite off of my wife's favorite food truck. Just a wee bit too hot for the baby today...

Enjoyed having a pint in The Fat Cat in Sheffield yesterday :)

Jack, the blue sky in this photo is incredible! Must have been a welcome change of pace from the "unsummery" weather you've mentioned several times this summer.

My 2-week vacation has officially begun.

Hope you have a phenomenal two weeks, Buzzbait!

Two works in progress that I will enjoy later today: sun tea and a Victorinox Recruit that is one trip to the stones away from whittlin' duty.
Nice job on the Recruit's pen blade mod, Greg! I really enjoy seeing how you tune up some of your blades for whittling!

Congrats on your new Boy's Knife, TheFactor; very cool how its color almost matches that of your beer!

Great Lakes!! I used to enjoy some of Great Lakes' products, but for some reason I haven't had any in ages. Do they still make Eliot Ness and Edmund Fitzgerald (one a stout and the other a porter, IIRC)?

Here are a couple of European brews my daughter brought me when she came from Madrid to visit for a while. Both beers were very tasty!

One of my favorite local breweries here in AZ, San Tan Brewing, was having their annual "Christmas in July" event today, where they tap several kegs of their "Winter Warmer" (served with freshly baked ginger snaps), put up Christmas decorations and play Christmas music all day. We had a great time.

Thanks, GT. And, oh how I admire that JJ Martinez marinera of yours! The beer looks great, too. ;)

Oh man, Barrett, that looks awesome! Glad you got to go, and we got to see pictures. :)

This lovely Saturday evening I'm enjoying my favorite gin, my favorite tonic, and my favorite lime slicer.

Yeah GT Great Lakes still has those.

Today's before bedtime beer and a Case Bros. Sowbelly.

The Brown Camel Bone on those #14's came out great:thumbup: good looking Pale as well.

At 13% it was a good beer but pretty strong. Definitely one you could put away for a while and let the alcohol calm down a little or split with a friend. Never been a big Star Wars guy but the art work did make me laugh.

Glad to hear your in for good! I really like how the texture on the higo starts on the handle and continues on the spine:thumbup:

Nice Tidiuote! I really like the color on the scales. I've been lucky enough to drop in SanTan a few times while in AZ. They make some great beers. They had a nitro black IPA which stands out in my memory.

As always the Lambsfoot looks great Greg. I really need to educate myself more on Gin. I've only ever tried a few of the decent varieties. Some of my buddies regularly drink Junipero and Monkey 47 both of which I thought were good. I'd like to give that Bluecoat a try sometime.

Thanks for the info. I didn't realize it was that strong. I also never got into star wars, but the bottle did catch my eye as well.

Thanks, TheFactor. :) I like that smooth camel bone 14 of yours, but this jigged bone 14 is absolutely drop-dead gorgeous!:thumbup:

Thanks for the Great Lakes info, Greg. Going on vacation in a couple of weeks to Michigan's Upper Peninsula just a couple of hours drive from where the Edmund Fitzgerald went down, so grabbing a 6-pack or 3 of that brew from Great Lakes Brewing would be a great idea!
I love the Case sowbelly, and have a chestnut jigged bone CV model, but my shield does NOT look like yours! Yours is very cool! I'd welcome any details about your knife that you're willing to provide.

Old photo, but I had this kind of beer with supper tonight, and I always carry a Vic Minichamp.
