Thank you, fellas! Haven't tasted it all though... Might not be possible! A lot of finer things out there.

Thank you, Jack, some choice whisky you are sipping there.

Some Brown Ale for me this evening.

black mamba black mamba .....aha..! (sounds a bit like me too - could do with lots more fresh air and time out :D)

Excellent, Jeff - will try that for sure - many thanks indeed :thumbsup::thumbsup:

- against the advice of one of my learned imbibing mates, I chose this. Sadly, it looks like I'll be going back to the shop to buy the Jim Beam Double Oak he suggested (at half the price :D)

Try it neat. Actually, I don't remember much about that whiskey, but I do like Maker's Mark. And I think most whiskey/whisky tastes best neat.

- thank you. Yes, I always drink Scotch Whiskey without ice (+touch of spring water)..........but in the past, the greater quantities of JD I have had was over ice in South Africa

But JD is not a wheated bourbon, as is Maker's and Maker's 46, and much more flavor forward. Wheat whisky and wheated bourbons are lighter at first taste, in my opinion. JD and Makers's = apples/oranges. Still, they should be flavorful over ice, though straight is my preference, too.

Well as sn old fiend of mine once said in reply to the question...what do you want 8n your scotch?....More scotch!
Its come to my attention that Scotch is not my drink...I do l9ve the peaty ,smoky ,icy highland burn, dead highland steer to hide inside thing.... but....you know all those whacked out characters I made up over the years in the forum knife threads?...yeah i kind of turn into them when i drink scotch....its a Lon Chaney Jr type effect....one minute savouring the malty moss covered pinebark of a distant glen....the next...STANDBY TO REPEL BOARDERS! Cutlass and Axe ! Death Awaits All...and Glory to him who Stares it down!
that kind of thing....apparently one of my ancestors was a berserk maniac...
I much prefer a nice mellowing Rum ....seen here in a Painkiller.

- thank you for correcting me, Stuart..........and apologies for being such a numpty heathen over your bourbons and whisky your side of the pond

I have some Crown Royal Canadian Whisky on order, should arrive Monday so will do some comparison notes - though they're from different origins.

Find drinking whisky, any whisky, is enhanced and more pleasurable for me when a small amount of spring water is added..........this followed from a whisky tasting session many moons ago led by an Islay expert/connoisseur. But, ultimately, what really matters is how each person enjoys their own . Preferably, I find it best taken after dark around flickering flames under the stars with a mate or three ;)

And, as one of my chums put it the other day, "Too many whiskys, not enough time....."
