What's wrong with a good old-fashioned Mint Julep, Stuart? I suppose that could be refreshing on a hot day, but it's making my mouth pucker!![]()
I dunno, Vince. Stuart's drink sounded fantastic to me. But, so does a mint julep.![]()
Tradition is important! What do I know? I'm just sitting here sipping some single malt, watching The Real McCoys.Ah, Vince, how I envy you; so much to learn. The luscious Mint Julep is the drink of the Kentucky Derby, which will be run later this convoluted season. It is sacrilege to imbibe it at another race, at least publicly. My posted concoction is the drink of the Belmont running, or so some of my Long Island friends say. I do not regularly add fruit to my bourbon drinks, but one does like to follow custom when watching a traditional event. I'll prepare some Juleps ( and a Hot Brown) in September when the ponies are running in Louisville.

Whiner is great. I like their Nwar especially. During lock down, my girlfriend and I ordered some and the owner delivered it himself.

Whittling and drinking. Farm & Field 62 and Red Chimay. I just need the best.
Dan.
My favourites are the red and the blue. Chimay is one of the best beers anywhere, but it is significantly more expensive now than it used to be (here in south Texas, anyway), so I rarely drink it anymore. I can get nearly two six-packs of Guinness for the same price!Fell in love with Chimay in the 80’s. I prefer the gold label reserve but I would never turn down the red.
