Beverages and Blades - Traditional of Course

My potation station has been out of Bell's Two-hearted. They may have switched it for the season with Bell's Christmas Ale. As one of our dedicated providers said, the Xmas ale tastes like a Xmas candle. The sugar and spices build up on the back of your tongue.
They still have Bell's Half-hearted, but that's too malty for my taste.

So anyway, thank heavens for Big Lakes' amber ale (Holland, Michigan).
Interesting report, Jer. I haven't tried the Bell's Christmas Ale, but the label calls the contents "Scotch Ale". For the right price, I enjoy Founders Dirty Bastard, also Scotch Ale, and never noticed a sugar and spice build-up.

Bell's also have an amber ale. Does it taste noticeably different than Big Lakes' amber ale? (I haven't tried either of them.)

Double Post because there was no evidence that my first post had "registered" in the thread. Same was actually true of my second attempt to post. So I left the thread and noticed on page 1 that I HAD in fact recently posted in the Beverages thread. Strange doings on a Black Friday!

I like the Dirty Bastard. I hadn't realized it was a Scotch ale. I think I've had the Bell's amber and liked it. Not near enough to the Big Lakes to compare, though.

Unregenerate hyenas of the ether won't let me post.
Those dastardly hyenas let you (and me) post repeatedly, but they don't give any indication that lets us realize that we've posted! :mad::eek: I think it's a test of our faith. Are we willing to follow, and TRUST, the posting procedure even if we get no confirmatory feedback??

Well, I was going to say it could have been worse, but it was.

I find that whenever I see no evidence that my post went through, even though I KNOW I hit "enter", if I reload the page, it shows up. YMMV, of course.

Did not know Mexico made a whiskey, knew of Mezcal and Tequlia.....and beer of course.

That's a good suggestion. :thumbsup::thumbsup:
I actually came up with that as a plan yesterday when I tried posting something and again nothing happened (except the contents of the "posting window" disappeared). I tried to reload the page to see if my post made it through, and that's exactly when I got a message something like, "Y'all have seriously overloaded the hard drive." :eek:

At first I thought, "What in the world have I done now?!?" But I soon decided that the warning message appearing after my attempt to post and reload was purely a scary coincidence! :D:rolleyes:

Enjoyed one of these porters yesterday. Turns out I didn't need the can opener! ;)

My wife found me a proper Advent Calendar several weeks ago - I finally get to start it tomorrow!

I saw that advertised recently (and have seen them in previous years) but I’ve never picked one up. I thought about getting one this year, but at this point I think I might be too late (I believe they were all gone well before Thanksgiving last year.)
