I don't have them often, but this stout from Saltaire isn't too bad, less sweet than the Smith'sI’ve always found chocolate beers to be more miss than hit, but this one was pretty good.

Boker USA 154What a gorgeous knife! Who was its maker?
Definitely!Yeah, one is enough on the Sam Smith’s Chocolate Stout, too.
Nice work Greg
I had never heard of Bosch Beer Company in Michigan, so I googled it after reading your post, Mike. Pretty interesting! You've posted the chocolate Leinie before and I've been a little curious about it. I like Leinenkugel. When I lived up north, it was a treat because I was broke and drank a lot of Bosch. At that time, Bosch was no longer made in Lake Linden, but rather was owned and brewed by Leinenkugel. It was a lot cheaper than Leinies and still a pretty good beer.

Down here in MO. Leinies are only carried by a couple of stores near me, and they only carry a couple of varieties. Wal-Mart occasionally has the canoe kolsch which I think is excellent. Might give the chocolate a go if I see any.
I've only been able to find the Canoe Paddler Kolsch in the summer so I think its seasonal too. I have been unable to find regular Leinie. I too went to their website to see if it was still being made. I just figured I lived too far south to get it.I had never heard of Bosch Beer Company in Michigan, so I googled it after reading your post, Mike. Pretty interesting!
I like a lot of the beers Leinie makes, but it seems like most of the ones I see are "seasonal". I like their Oktoberfest (Aug-Oct), Vanilla Snowdrift Porter (Dec-Feb? couldn't find it this year), Chocolate Dunkel (Nov-Feb? haven't seen it in the store lately), and Toasted Bock (another winter one, I think). The Canoe Paddler kolsch is crisp and refreshing, but maybe only available in the summer. (Or maybe my grocery store only sells certain varieties in certain seasons.) They also have some shandies in the summer that I really don't care for.
I first had Leinenkugel's while in college in the early 1970s when I had a friend who lived in the Chicago area, and his dad would periodically drive up to Wisconsin to fill the car trunk with cases of Leinies. I never see the original Leinie's anymore, although the brewery website says it's still available year-round.

That's a great pic though EdNo more booooooozzzzzzzzeeee for me.It clashes with two of the medications that I take post jaw cancer.
Maybe a short beer on a special occasion but that will have to be very special. Gonna miss the Everclear as it makes a great booster for many beverages.

Considerably less interesting than it looks, and I'm not sure what, if anything, Northern Monk had to do with this beer, or how on earth the odious James Watt managed to get them to put their name to it. Since it is apparently a Brewdog beer, it's hardly surprising it's mediocre. Northern Monk collaborating with Brewdog is a bit like Sam Smith's collaborating with John Smith's![]()
Very cool GregRelaxing with thoughts of adventures past, present, and future.
