Hey, mescal and margaritas are for Cinco de Mayo, hombre! Gotta have some bourbon for the Fourth of July! Will take a pic tomorrow if I remember....
Got the day off. Gonna put the flag out. Grilling t-bones and making roasted garlic mashed potatoes. Happy Indpendence Day, everyone!

You wouldn't get served alcohol, without that beard Vince! :D ;)

I'll see what I can do about some bourbon later, Prester John Prester John . For now, coffee.

Have a happy 4th, everyone! Be safe.
Great image Greg :)

I'm not sure why anyone ever drinks this stuff when there's good Scotch available,
Two reasons, Jack: some of us like the taste (Maker's Mark is one of my favourites), and the price: I can get a good, drinkable bourbon for less than half the price of decent scotch. (I did enjoy my dram of Ardbeg Corryvrecken last night, though!)

I wasn't being too serious Vince, I know that we all have different tastes :) I've tried, but I'm afraid, based on my very limited experience, the appeal is largely lost on me ☹️ Price wasn't something I'd considered though, here Maker's Mark is about the same price as a malt like Talisker or Highland Park, with some other bourbons costing more.

Edit - It's also possible that I'm not impressed with bourbon because it doesn't taste enough like whisky (which I've been drinking around 50 years)! :D

Hope you had a nice visit, GT! If you’re ever in town again, maybe we can meet up and grab a beer.
My wife and I enjoyed the visit, Barrett, although some of the time we were in The Cities it was very hot so we didn't get out to do as much sight-seeing as my daughter hoped to do. Also, we took our little dog Gandalf with us, and my daughter didn't have room for us to stay at her place, but she did have room for Gandalf, which made finding hotels easier. Gandalf also stayed with her when we went to St. Cloud for 4 days. But my daughter has Cash, a young, enthusiastic, semi-large dog of her own, while Gandalf is old and tiny and quite low-key, and doesn't have much patience for Cash and his antics. So I doubt if Gandalf enjoyed the trip as much as I did (although he handles car travel much better than I do these days).

We went out to eat several times with my daughter and her boyfriend, and once even with the boyfriend's parents. We went to a fried chicken place called Revival, an eclectic restaurant called Free House (I highly recommend the Baja Bowl if you ever go there, although my wife would vote for 18" of walleye hanging off each side of her plate), and went to St. Paul Brewing for pizza a couple of times in a renovated Hamm's brewery (the dogs could go there with us).

I suppose if our daughter stays in St. Paul we'll be back eventually, and it would be cool to meet you for a beer!:thumbsup: 🤓 Maybe we could go to that St. Paul Brewing, since I can actually find it without having to use the intimidating interstates! (It's on Minehaha, and from the brewery, I can just drive straight east until I hit McKnight, and then my daughter's apartment complex is just south on McKnight a short way.)

Another offering from the Mitten Brewing Company I picked up recently. (I posted Mitten's TCB - Triple Crown Brown - a couple of months ago, I think.) This WCS - West Coast Swing- was a very satisfying amber ale:

Besides that, once upon a time (2018) it won an award: Gold for American-style amber/red ale. (Please excuse the dog hair plastered to the can; I had no idea that was there.)
