First time trying this one. Gotta say it’s pretty, pretty, prettaaaaay, pretty good. I can’t find a way of describing the flavor profile without blurting “that’s what she said” 🤦‍♂️, so I’ll just say it’s close to trail mix. More of a dessert beer.
Wow! Like a chocolate fruitcake! I'm all in!!! Sure hope my local HEB or liquor store carries it.

[HEB is a Texas grocery chain.]

I quite like Talisker Storm, which is the only Talisker I've tried. I really like the Ardbegs I've tried. I like the peat and complexity. OTOH I also like Glenfiddich 12 year, which I know from previous posts of yours, you don't consider to be very good. I blame it on my unsophisticated American palate :p
I've decided that my palate is what it is... sophisticated or not. I listen to these guys waxing eloquent about the notes of ripe fruit, white pepper, marzipan.... my response is.... well, it's a little fruity or citrusy, slight aroma of vanilla, definitely whiskey.....

I think drinking scotch, or any whiskey, really, is much like art, or classical music.... if you like it, it's good. Doesn't matter what the "experts" say....

edit: I've heard multiple "experts" say that for a great entry level blend, one of the best is Monkey Shoulder..... while I'm not quite at entry level, I decided to try it... I like some good blends...
First try.... I REALLY disliked it. Bad flavor, horrible aftertaste/finish.
A couple of days later, tried it again, just to be fair.... if anything, it was worse....
Nobody I knew was interested in it, so I poured it down the drain..... not something I do lightly.

Other people apparently really like it....

Oh, I like what I like. The guys I play cards with used to drink Dewars and Johnny Walker. I thought they were both awful and remained a happy beer drinker. Then one of them brought a bottle of Laphroig. It tasted so completely different from the Dewars and JW that I was shocked they were all scotch. Given that background, I don't have much interest in blends although I'm sure there are some that are very good. I like exploring the single malts.

Yes... too many whiskeys, too little time .....
One of my favorite blends, if you like a little smoky/peaty, is Famous Grouse.. and it's about $19 a bottle. It's a very pleasant, repeatable blend... not overpowering at all, like some of the Islays can be.
I'm currently working on a bottle of Port Charlotte 10 yr old heavily peated .... I thought I had a pic of it, but can't find it.
It's very nice, IMHO.... similar to Lagavullin.... light color, not harsh at all... lots of the iodine/peat/smoke ?? aromas like Ardbeg and Lagavullin, very smooth on the palate. It's in the $60 range, so, better than the Lagavullin, price wise.

Tried the Port Charlotte recently myself. Was okay. Lagavulin, Laphroiag, and Ardbeg much better in my opinion. Especially the Ardbeg Corryvreckan. May be best whisky I have ever tasted!

Well, I picked some up today. I also got some Yeungling because I knew my wife would not care for the Shiner Trail Ale. She took one sip and started making faces. I am enjoying my second bottle. Like drinking chocolate fruitcake!

I have not had that one.... I've had the "Wee Beastie", the 10 yr, and the Uigeadail... they are all pretty good, but the Beastie is a bit harsh, compared to the others.... but it IS only 5 yrs old. I'll have to try the Corry...

and this one has been in my pocket since it arrived.... I like it....
