Beverages and Blades - Traditional of Course

My wife often buys me some new-to-me beers for Christmas and/or my birthday (6 days before Christmas). This year she got me a couple of 6-packs and a 4-pack of pints in the week following New Year's Day. One of them was this porter that I liked a lot (as is true of almost every porter I've ever had).

Here's more of the label, showing off an image of Lake Superior, which is near where the porter is brewed, and a porter carrying luggage on a bike.

A mystery: here's another part of the label on the can, but what can that date (12/27/99) mean? Maybe the 6-pack my wife got me is NOS! Or maybe this brewery "ages" their porter? I'd say the 23-year-old porter is excellent - '99 was a very good year!

Another beer my wife bought for me earlier this month is not new-to-me, but it's a long-time semi-local favorite. I drank a bottle with my supper Tuesday night.

The label description mentions "a significant hop presence", but my taste buds don't notice that (and that's the way I like it - minimal hops).
Unlike the Ore Dock Porter I posted a couple of days ago, with a label date from 1999, I was enjoying this stout about a month after it was brewed ("PKG 12/12/2022" at bottom of label).

I've opened many an Islay that I called "Old Band-Aid." A smooth, easier going, simply delicious Scotch is Glenmorangie 14 y.o The Quinta Ruban, with the green label. Midling priced and worth every penny. Bruichladdich is another Islay really worth trying.
Thanks for the recommendation, Jeff. I'm sipping my first few sips right now.

When visiting New Zealand I always like to take advantage of them. Despite the price of cheeses being obscenely high..the beer is reasonably priced by Aussie standards...and so much to choose from...that plus a 10buck bargain at a crummy 2nd hand shop...the guy said he didnt like knives...idiot.20230124_195910.jpg
Im leaving tomorrow...but I have a stop to make on way to airport...a huntn n fishn store...hopefully get a Svord...of some sort. KA KITE AOTEOROA...

Blantons, a traditional knife, and a good book. You, sir, are a man after my own heart. We are going to need to talk about you watering down Blanton's though lol
I truly apologize.....though the cube lasts much longer than the Blantons.😁
You, obviously are a man of good tastes.
