Beverages and Blades - Traditional of Course

These knives and drinks are so beautiful looking. I want to reach in and feel them, smell them, and maybe take a few... especially the ones with the bottle opener and nice spearpoint blade that I can use for spreading butter and jelly as well as normal cutting. ;-)

Not sure what my wife is making but the Bauchant French Liqueur will pair well with my new Capuchadou knife.

Well, GT, give us a report, which is the best?

Jeff, here's a post from a year ago in which I "ranked" 5 of the 6 Oktoberfest beers in my recent photo. My conclusions are essentially the same this year: the Great Lakes, Leinenkugel, Sam Adams, Founders (and Red Jacket) are all very good, and practically too close to call for me, while the Sierra Nevada collaboration with a German brewery is again too hoppy (and pale-colored) for my tastes.
(The following post also contains a link to a similar Oktoberfest ranking I posted back in 2020 in which I claimed I could make some distinctions between the beers I now claim are all practically "tied". Maybe the COVID lockdown earlier that year had refined my taste buds.🤓 )

I've been enjoying an Oktoberfest beer every other day since late August, although I doubt if my remaining stockpile will take me into the New Year. I've done some informal, low-key taste-testing of five brands of Oktoberfests this fall, and have found out that I enjoy Founders, Leinie, Samuel Adams, and Great Lakes almost equally - whichever one I happen to be drinking on a given evening tastes very good to me. At some point I decided that I'd probably give a slight advantage to Great Lakes Oktoberfest, but it's "splitting hairs". One conclusion that was surprisingly easy for me to reach was that I didn't care for Sierra Nevada Oktoberfest nearly as much as I did the others - I thought it was "too hoppy". This surprised me, because 3 years ago (see the post linked above) I selected Sierra Nevada as my favorite. This can probably be explained by the fact that Sierra Nevada has a German brewery as their partner for brewing their Oktoberfest each season, but I think it has been a different German partner each year.

Thanks, G, I think most of those are available around here so I'll have to try 'em out! I've always been a big fan of Founders.

Thanks for the recommendation, Patrick.:cool:

I don't think I've ever tried that brand of Oktoberfest, but I'll bet I can find it in a new-to-me liquor store that has far more imported beers than I've seen in grocery stores that I previously thought had impressive beer selections.

I have tried a Hofbräu product before, according to this photo I found, but I can't remember if I liked it. I tend to have a high opinion of Dunkel beers.
