beware lazyotter

After reviewing the 55 emails, 5 private messages and 2 paypal claims opened, this is the best explanation that I can give as to what lazy otter (Nick Reynolds) was trying to do:
He contacted me on 6/24 saying that he wanted to purchase 2 knives that I had for sale. He said that he did not have the money right now but was trying to get the money and I told him that I would hold the knives for him until he got the money, no problem. Normally I would not hold an item, but he told me that he was an injured vet and tight on money. He then told me that he would get friends and his father to pay for the knives.
Currently I have 4 payments from people that I thought were his friends or his father. I found out that he was selling on the forum and using my paypal in order to complete the purchases.
I got an email from lazy otter last night saying to send the money back to ruff111 who bought the leatherman and the rest goes to his girlfriend's paypal account because he said it was his money. In his email he stated "the money is mine and I need it back tonight or tomorrow also check the rules and you are not to contact people".

So now after the 55 emails and no that is not an extra 5, it's actually 55 emails from 6/24 til now and I still have all of them, this is what I am going to do:
I am going to refund the 4 people that sent money to my paypal account. Nothing was shipped and everyone will have their money back and hopefully this will be done.

So basically, lazy otter was using my paypal account to sell goods on the forum to fund his own purchases without my knowledge and I hope this clears it up for everyone. I am chalking this up to a lesson learned and another for the ignore list. If anyone has any questions please feel free to send me a PM.

Thanks,
Ron

While I understand you were trying to help out, it sucks you ended up tangled in this mess. I can forsee an amended rule coming to the Exchange to prevent this from happening. This kind of thing is absolutely NOT worth the hassle and headaches it causes for people. Remember Murphy's Law, it has happened here. If someone has NO PAYPAL of their own, then accept USPS MO, cash, bank check, sea shells, whatever instead. For the record, no, people...you cannot use a Paypal account that is not yours. It's problematic, and this is why.

Thank you Kelama! I'd also like to point out that Clanton changed the price on the knives after I showed interest k2 was 150 then went too 220 and sazabo became 160 from 130 and he offered them both to me for $300 so I went for it then it became $330! So explain that?

Start a new thread about Clanton if you feel the need....

Before you think about that though, you need to clean up this mess.

Try to focus on the topic here, it might be a good idea to start to understand how this cool little 'plan' of how to pay Clanton was a really bad way to go.

... I screwed up I guess ?But there is a ton of yall who do this too....

No there is not. I have never heard of ANYONE on this forum using another person's bank account without their knowledge. I'm no lawyer, but that sounds a bit like fraud to me.

You've got some nerve young man.

One last thing for personal reasons I can't have a PP account or I'd have one.

Use other forms of payment. There are many other options.
They are slower, but at least they don't leave people hanging....

Too many exuses on your end man, and not enough understanding of why what you did here is nothing short of wrong...

That is not a problem, but you need to sell accordingly then. Nothing in the world wrong without having Paypal, I know more people that don't have an account than those that do. For your own sake as well of that of other people though, be clear in your sales threads. Anything less is just not going to work as we can see. This isn't the end of the world by any means, just get things straight and move forward. You made a mistake, accept it and move forward.

How about just using a USPS Money order next time?

Or if the guy is a trusted member just mail a personal check?

Better yet, open a paypal account.................................................

I had a trade with Nick and although the grammar in his pm's sounded off to me he followed thru without any hassle and I would not consider him dishonest. I think he just needed to disclose what he was trying to accomplish.

Okay, so before we get anything else that detracts from the issue here. Let's all take a deep breath and see what happens tomorrow. One day isn't going to kill anyone and cooler heads will prevail.

I did not read any but the OPs first few sentences as I wanted to give my unbiased opinion.

I have dealt with lazy otter 3xs, all within the last few weeks.

Overall I am satisfied as he has given me some killer deals and when he wants to make a trade he makes an offer that is hard to deny.
He ships quick too.

He does get a bit excited and will blow your inbox up with emails that can bit out of order but I wrap that up to loving sharp stuff which is cool by me. He also made a comment the other day when we emailed that lead me to believe he had been injured in a sense that it rattled his noggin, maybe I am off but I think that was the just without quoting.

Back to the beers, wish all the best for both parties.

Eric

eta I noticed the op say something of pp'ing other members. Otter came to me with a deal I could not refuse so he could raise some funds. I agreed and he had me paypal a guy who's knife he wanted, bad :D Having dealt with him to prior times I saw no issue with this, did it, got my stuff and Im happy.

He is using other people's paypal to accept payment without their permission and without the knowledge of those paying. Judging by his feedback this is not the first time he has done this with a negative result. You lucked out and didn't get screwed.

Maybe I am insensitive but being an injured vet in no way excuses this type of behavior. It might explain it though. Sorry, but we don't need members here who do this kind of thing for whatever reason.

It seems to me the root of this problem is trying to buy a knife you don't have the money to buy. If you have to scramble and try to work convoluted deals, then maybe it's best to let that "deal" go and wait for the next. Just my 2 cents.

With all due respect lazyotter from one Vet to another. I somewhat understand what you tried to do but this type of dealing is a recipe for disaster for all involved

I agree with many in here--
Money Orders are the best rather than this route..
Thank You to all the VETERANS for their selfless SERVICE To our country

This is not the first time lazyotter has done that...

It caused issues about 3 months ago, and again now.
