*BEWARE* Scary close Fake Military

Obviously you don't know of xiuxiu1313 then...he has an incredibly high end collection of customs, CRKs, Striders, and rare Emerson's, he uploads vids of new high end knives almost daily, with that many expensive knives going in and out, I'd definitely say he's a VERY experienced knife buyer, which is exactly why he was able to spot an extremely close fake almost instantly just because something didn't "feel right"...

What does that have to do with his Spyderco knowledge? He talks about how he hasn't ever had a G10 Mili before, how he hasn't bought many Spyderco's recently, and doesn't understand the letter designation on the box. Not saying it isn't fake, in fact after more discussion I think it is a fake, but his saying so holds little water to me. Nothing personal to him, I am no Mili expert either, but wouldn't claim I am.

I'm really interested in the opinion of someone who is.

Like you, I'm a bit skeptical of his claim that it's fake. G10 varies between production runs, and the Edge-U-Caution slips I get are always black and white. He might have a point about the liner, but isn't Spyderco known for Continuous Improvement? Couldn't something have changed?

If that's a fake, that's an extremely good one.

I have tried investigating and I have not found out who the maker is or the name they go by.

xiuxiu1313 ! He's an awesome YouTuber that puts out some great knife vids. I saw this vid and the one before it with him talking about this fake Military he got of eBay. That bad grind job on the blade made me laugh a little.

Eh, he does buy high end stuff but it don't mean he has a good eye for details, he was easily taken by a fake sebenza he bought in the past, he didn't even realize it until people told him so in the comments. Just because someone spends a lot of money on something doesn't make them an expert on whatever they buy, not all the time at least.

That millie may or may not be real, the main thing that is odd is that the liner is not bead blasted and the clip finish looks different, but i wouldn't say just because of the feel of the G10 or an off grind you can call it fake. I've had millies and para 2's that seemed to have a different feel in the G10, and some grinds that were off too.

Whatever though, he is not happy with it and at the end of the day that is what is important and lucky for him the seller is refunding him. I like his channel, but i don't always trust his judgement.

He should stop trying to save a buck on ebay and buy from a reputable dealer. It will be interesting to see what he thinks of another millie when he gets his hands on one.

I got the exact same one but from an Amazon seller. Same Para 2 paperwork and same stonewashed liner. I sent a message to Spyderco to see if perhaps they accidentally sent out some Milis with the wrong paperwork and have the stonewashed liners, still haven't heard back from them yet. I did take out the blade and it was stamped with the date on it, so I'm thinking it might be real, just maybe a quality control or change in finishing for a particular run. Either way mine seems real besides the mentioned anomalies, and my blade is straight not like xiuxiu1313's. hope I hear good news from Spyderco.

There are still good dealers on ebay. Just because you can get fakes on ebay doesn't mean you should never shop there again.

Often buy from official retailers and vendors, but now and then from forums like here. Hope that they remain relative safe. but when fakes get so close, people might start selling them without even knowing... copying products is one thing, selling them as the real product makes me :barf:

That is a little scary. As a rule, I rarely buy anything on amazon that isn't shipped and sold from Amazon. Is the seller amazon?
