This guy is a jerk! He bought a canteen from on 8/18 in the afternoon, it was shipped on Thursday morning and returned to me Monday morning for a postage error. I promptly contacted him telling him I would be resending the item that day. He requested a refund because he did not receive his item fast enough. I responded that I would refund him, but apparently he did not receive that message, so Tuesday morning I get a PM from him stating that my "communication" sucks and I will be getting flamed on feedback. He was also angry I didn't PM him tracking info, however he later discovered that paypal sent him tracking that was in his spam folder. The exchange continued (all while I was at work with only access to my phone) and he grew more and more agitated. I explained to him that I would look into his refund today but I would not refund him shipping costs if they were charged to me by PayPal. I have never refunded anyone and did not know if this would be a potential issue. This angered him as well, and the exchanges got ugly. I attempted to involve a mod but have not heard back from them yet. Finally, I told him that I am resending the canteen as I did not see the need to cooperate with the courtesy of a refund since he was being aggressive in his PMs. He replied that he would open a dispute when the item arrived saying it wasn't in the condition I described (brand new) implying that he would damage the item to open a dispute. I woke up today with a paypal dispute filed for never receiving the item (he would have received it today if he would have let me resend it Monday) and negative feedback on my iTrader rating. Beware selling to this guy, he is fickle and if he doesn't get his bottle fast enough, he contacts paypal to open disputes. I was forced to refund his money and eat the $13 shipping charge.

Yikes. Make sure you send Paypal copies of all communications, everything you have. Sounds like much aggravation could have been avoided by a little patience on his end.

Paypal told me that they don't use emails, pictures, videos as evidence. They will always take the buyers side. She encouraged me to just refund him the money and not take the chance of him damaging the item, so I did.

@Revdevil is there anything I can do to get this negative feedback wiped from my profile? I had a perfect record before this, and I have sold many more items than my feedback indicates. I have bought and sold nearly 20 Fiddlebacks alone. I also have a perfect ebay selling record with 60 transactions.

Go to your feedback page and underneath the feedback click the symbol that looks like a triangle with an ! inside it. That will send a report to the owner who is the only one that can change feedback.

Just to eliminate doubt from my piers, (rturbo suggested that there was no canteen or it wasn't in the condition I described) here are a few pics. Initially, I was told by my wife who received it from the mailman that the label was ripped, apparently it was a postage issue, but none less.

Can I ask why you are not signed up as a dealer than, If you sale so many knives?

I didn't know there was such a thing but I wouldn't consider myself a dealer, the Fiddleback forum is where I mostly hang out and many of us buy and sell each other knives very frequently, it's a great way to sample knives and see what you like. I don't sell for profit, and wouldn't consider myself a business. I am an RN.

Just a friendly reminder - You might be a dealer if...

... you buy knives with the express purpose to turn around and resell them at a profit, on a regular basis, then you just might be a dealer.
... you buy knives at wholesale, then turn around and sell them at just below retail, then you just might be a dealer.
... you have a store, or a certificate of resale, and are selling here as a Gold Member, then you just might be a dealer.

We're getting reports of at least 3 individuals listed as Gold members engaging in this sort of thing. Needless to say, this is frowned upon and will get your Gold Membership pulled.

Just a friendly warning from your friendly forums Administrator.

It does, it confirms that I'm not a dealer. I don't buy knives with the intent of selling them for a profit, I don't buy knives at wholesale and sell them for retail, and I don't have a store or website.

Thanks.

There's nothing wrong with buying and selling a bunch of knives just to try them out Al. Its not as if he can just walk into a store and handle a bunch of fiddle back models. Buying them is the only way to see what you like. Certainly doesn't make him a dealer...

Emoney sorry to see the mess you're in. The only advice I have for you is to avoid those medium flat rate boxes unless you're shipping something heavy. That canteen would have cost about $5 shipped priority in your own box.

Thank you, apparently that was the problem, I didn't have a box to fit the canteen so I used a flat rate box but put a parcel select label on it. For the longest time my post office only had the long and thin medium flat rate box so when I printed my label at home I declined the flat rate and planned on buying a box at the PO. When I got there I saw this box and thought it wouldn't be a big deal since the postage I paid was more than a flat rate box. Obviously I was wrong.

If you made a mistake with the postage it seems fair that you should eat that charge.

Unfortunately, I think you might have blown your shot at getting the negative feedback removed when you left rturbo a negative in retaliation.
Maybe you could ask some of the people you've dealt with to leave some feedback and water down that negative one.

Best of luck to you.

Seems reasonable. I will agree to edit my feedback when he edits his. As for the shipping cost, I was going to eat the reshipping associated with it, bringing it to $24 on a $65 sale. I don't charge people for shipping or paypal fees. As mentioned before , this conversation happened yesterday. Please note that I worked 3pm-330am Monday and 11am-3am yesterday. When I discussed shipping with him, I had not yet investigated why it was returned to me. I was going by what my wife told me. I explained this to him as well.

I suggest you and RTURBO try to work it out and then both of you contact Spark to see if you can clear up each others feedback. It shows strong character if you guys can squash it first and fix it. I'm sure he'd have no issue if you guys went together with ZERO drama.

I guess you guys won't be able to fix it then. Sorry you guys bumped heads. Lots of communication gets lost in email. Sometimes a good old phone call is due.

Well, we attempted that yesterday with around 20 PMs back and forth. He is less than patient or reasonable, and I would not use "polite" to describe his wording. I have been more than willing to accommodate him, but I told him I would not be able to address until today. Apparently that was not fast enough for him as I woke this morning to find negative feedback and a paypal dispute filed on his behalf.
