BF2020 Blade Etch

I’d be more vocal about a “just say no” campaign on blade etches if it wasn’t a historical thing on slipjoints. I do like a clean blade.

Nice work by all ordering pizza for 100’s of folk. No easy feat there!! That’s even hard to pull off with 3 people! Lol
 
I prefer this one. It keeps the geometry of the blade more clean, and bladeforums is in a better place, with Viper as a complement.

It does not seem fair to ask the maker to not include their standard marking, and as Mike mentioned, import laws require maker/country marks.

I don’t have the patience to do “various types” ;), but here’s a mockup with Ram’s Horn (somewhat close to the type Mike had shared previously, I think). I was also able to darken the fill on the letters in BladeForums to match the Viper logo. :thumbsup:

I've been vocal about it - I dislike blade etches. I bought the forum knife, hoping for a subtle etch - looks like I'm out of luck. <shrug> No big deal, there will probably be a couple extra available for people that didn't get their orders in before the close.

Excellent work Barrett. Thank you. I agree that most etches are like worts but without it how you could tell it was anything other than another knife? Sort of like nameplates on a car.
 
It’s been mentioned already and perhaps it isn’t possible, but I really like the idea of the BladeForum2020 etch on the liner or backspring in the blade well. It keeps the blade less cluttered and also doesn’t declare as prominently that it is a forum knife. The understatement makes it more special Since it isn’t obvious at a glance and it is less “look at me!”
 
btb01 btb01 Barrett, you are a wizard! I find myself becoming attracted to a design I never cared for before (I’m even looking at CASE Swayback Jacks) - this could become financially damaging! Thanks for all the intellectual efforts from all involved. I normally don’t care for a blade etch, but I like this one and support it. OH
