BF2020 Blade Etch

Mike knifeswapper knifeswapper , I don’t think this is exactly what you meant, but here’s a version using the BladeForums logo and the Viper logo as it appears on the existing Swayback model. Photo borrowed from @Pàdruig. (Sorry again for the rough edges on the logo; I think we’d need a higher resolution of the logo than I was able to find to do this thing for real.)

What's the end spring look like on these Vipers? Could the logo be etched there?

How about inside the liners,:D;) artisan style?

Really don't like blade etchings that much...can't we have a pin or just a certificate instead? And why is etching the tang likely to interfere with action? The Lionsteel and Fox knives in 390 have etched tangs??

Well, there no need for year stars now... Here's 2013

That looks VERY good!

Eric

Still needs the year, and would all look better stacked vertically especially when you add the year.

Thanks knifeswapper knifeswapper for giving your attention to this important detail.

Looks good to me.... add a 2020 below Bladeforums.

I like the small year, looks very nice. Thank you btb01 btb01 for the mock ups.

As far as stacking, I would put Viper logo on top and Bf logo with small year below, but whether stacked or strung out, either way will look good and commemorate a stunning achievement, possible only because this is a leap year and we had that extra day for this project.

Maybe final marking decision will have to be based on any limitations Viper may have (such as Viper logo always in a certain location, can only use laser on limited parts of blade real estate, whatever, etc.).

Why do I feel like I want to buy a stag Viper swayback?!

I don’t really think the 2020 is necessary (again, just my own personal opinion; also, who wants to remember this year anyways?!), but here’s one with a minimal 2020 added.
Every year is important, good, bad or indifferent.

What about a horizontal line below BladeForums with the year centered perhaps? I wouldn't mind a non-dark background for the forum with just lines for letter borders. I realize what the logo is.... just a thought....

Someone mentioned having them stacked instead of side-by-side. (I think I prefer it the other way.)

Stacked is away from the nick and is less likely to wear off. Without the black background might look less like a billboard.

If it must have the year and must be on the blade, I think this one is pretty sharp. Or we could start over on a yearly star or dot pattern. ‍

I initially considered the mockup a worst case scenario, as far as the etching... now I'm seeing that people want to retain the Viper and CK and do the bladeforums etch in addition?.
I appreciate all of Mike's effort to make this happen at basically the last minute; but, respectfully, the forum knife shouldn't be billboard advertising for his business. (I know I may be in the minority with that sentiment, and I don't plan on debating the subject.)

I don't want CK on this monstrosity :D

Ya'll can discuss it and tag me when you have a proposal for the factory. They don't stamp anything; all laser etch. And I would warn about the pivot area of the blade as you do not want to add resistance to anything contacting the PB washers.

I would recommend BladeForums as one word - I think that is as it should be; like CollectorKnives.
This knife will have Mike and CK written all over it whether he gets etched into it or not.
I really want the year and I really want 2020 instead of mmxx.
To the extent that I give a stercus.:D

Alright, this is the last one I’m doing for now. Some of you suggested a thinner border on the letters (or “no black background”), so here’s an (even rougher) approximation of what that would look like. (Sorry, the more I mess with the logo, the worse it’s going to look.)

Well done! Very clean design.

Nice job! I was going to suggest skipping the etch altogether. But that looks good.

My favorite would still be a discreet ricasso etch.
