Big Fat Phoney

I have often suggested that these genuine knife makers (in the USA and in Europe) band together, pool their resources and have a piece of anti-counterfeit legislation drawn up by lobbyists and sent to congress to get it passed.

Yes, they are competing companies but surely, this is an issue they can ALL find some common ground on.

I in no way see how a market flooded w/ cheap, foreign-made counterfeits helps their profit margin.

The legitimate companies are not producing the clones, it doesn't take a genius to see which lawless country the bulk of the fakes are coming from.

9830 is on its way back to Amazon and I have some money burning a hole in my pocket. Should I see if I can get one in S35vn? OR take a chance on a Spyderco Domino...OR, wildcard..the Spyderco Rubicon 2?

I've had my eye on both of these spydies for awhile but decided to get the 0562 first. They both seem to be a good middle ground between my two favorites, the 0562 and the Dragonfly 2.

Out of those three you list I would go with one in s35vn, swap the scales and either sell the CF version or use it as a back up. Never was a fan of the Dmino (too small for me) or the Rubicon (too funky and expensive, but if you like it why not try it out). Then again if you like the DF2 then maybe the Domino is right up your ally. Do a search in the review section or Spyderco subforum. I'm sure there is plenty of info here on both.

Yes, I know. That's why I'm saying these legit knife makers in other countries need to lobby their govts. to get legislation passed that bans their import and / or sale based on intellectual private property rights.

I was in the same boat for the original Rubicon but they've cut cost for the Rubicon 2 and dialed down the funk. All three knives are roughly the same price new. I think I'm going to sell my Carbon fiber 0562 after I accidentally broke the tip like an idiot (don't ask) and it's barely noticeable, but I can't stop looking at it. I wanted this knife to be a user but it's just too pretty.

I'm strongly leaning towards the S35vn but those two spyders keep whispering my name.

dont support clones. dont be that guy.

ZT will replace that blade for $30 I think. And I agree, the rub 2 looks much better and the price is more inline with what you get.
