Poorfish sent me a code to get 25% off store wide today. I found some really cheap Spydercos with that discount and was ordering a few at midnight. I went to order the ones I'd selected earlier in the week, only to find they had raised the prices on ALL the models I wanted by at least 25% and some were even missing. So, NO bargins just a trick. Not funny.:thumbdn: (and they got none of my money, so maybe the trick is on them)

Hmmn, Bait, Switch, & Hook comes to mind . . . Stores here do this all the time. Big sale next week-end, prices go up during the week . . . Must be the same anywhere.
Be safe.

Yup,tis' the season .

My inbox is sooo packed with these "deals" everyday. There are some legit ones in there, but most are as Jill says "tricks".:thumbdn:

Hmmn, I was going to order an inexpensive spyderco and a zippo during the sale but can't really afford to do so regardless. The prices on the items I was considering look the same. Care to mention the items and prices?

Everything I wanted went up or is removed. Sage 2 was about 150, now it's at 172, Police 3 went up, Bradleys are gone, all the higher end Spydercos are marked up.

Well, I've ordered a lot of stuff from Poorfish in the past with great results but this is not the type of business I like to support. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.
I had actually planned on staying up past midnight tonight to order during this sale. Instead, I'm broke, still up after midnight and find out the sale may have been misleading. Oh well such is life.

If this is the same Poorfish who sells on eBay I had problems with them on a knife deal a few years back. Poor communication, bad customer service, and needed to file a PayPal dispute to get my money back for a knife I never received.

It seems they did leave some prices the same, on the lower priced Spydercos anyway. But, the higher end models were either removed, or raised. I should know I was planning on buying, now I'm not. Sage 2 for 112.50 and a Bradley for 90 bucks, Shipped. Too good to be true? Of course! Police 3's for under 90? Nope!

It's the same outfit, but you would have to buy from the store to get this discount, and I've watched the store prices on these Spydercos all week.

Jill that is very disappointing. If you are going to do that, it's not a sale at all but a poor tactic at getting sales. I'm sure there are a lot of people out of the knife community that look at MSRP at the Spyderco site and think they are getting a knife for a song. We know better though.

I got the same thing and checked it out and saw nothing that looked like a good deal to me. I have bought several knives from him on Ebay in the past and had no issue's. I do have an issue with those selling practices though.

I pretty much have all the meat and potato knives. Anymore all I am looking at is hard to find old collectibles, new models that might catch my eye and sprint runs.

There's one for $138 right now... Was this a one-day-only thing?

24 hour, 25% discount with code.
The Sage 2 was 149.99. Now it's (copied from the store)
Spyderco Sage 2 Titanium Plain Edge Knife
Price: $171.99

Everything I wanted went up, or was removed altogether.

I should have known, I wasn't getting a Sage 2 for 112.50, or a G. Bradley for 90.00 shipped. No doubt they'd lose money on them at those prices, but IMO they should be upfront about what they are doing, instead of misleading people into thinking they will get a deal if they wait until a certain time to order, only to discover differently.

That's not 'Bait and Switch', it's called 'Jack and Slash'.

A time honored deception in sales. :(

Just as a counterpoint, I have had several transactions through Poor Fish on eBay and have had excellent results.

I just received a package from them this morning with a present for my son. I paid for it Wednesday night and got it this morning. Fast shipping by anyone's standard.

That jack and slash technique is definitely for the birds. Thanks for the heads up.

I ordered a GB before the Saturday sale using the SAVE20 code. $99.99 is as it good as I think I'll find for one. I read that they "jack and slash" when the 25% goes into effect so I placed the order last night. Now, they do not even show up on a search- they were pulled.

Cheap tricks indeed.
I had a couple of experiences with poor fish before. One on ebay, one on the web store. Both went smooth, with no issues.
However, this sales tactics are lame. I was planning on getting some ka-bar knives, and their prices went up indeed. Thanks for the heads up. I won't touch this "deal".
