Biggest disappointment!

The Benchmade Contego. I wanted to like it. I would have loved it if not for the incredibly uncomfortable handle. Hopefully they will work on their ergonomics in the future. Great for gloves, awful for bare hands. Can't wear gloves all the time, Benchmade.

I've seen this before and I don't quite get it. The thing is undoubtedly spiky but it's not intended for all-day usage. It's designed to not be dropped when you need it most.

This gives me pause though. I've never carried mine as my sole blade. It's always been a secondary SHTF-style knife. Think I'll make it my go-to for a week or two and see how it handles it.

I really tried, and my hands are calloused and all. I think for gloved hands it is perfect. The real issue for me is that while I don't have particularly small hands, that ridge where the dip in the handle for the first two fingers starts always got in my way. If that wasn't there, the G10 could be sanded and it'd be pretty comfortable.

My ZT 0300 Blackwash. I already had the 0301 tigerstripe but that blackwash looked so amazing I couldn't resist getting it as well. All was fine and dandy untill a few weeks ago I actually started using it and noticed the lockbar moves all the way to almost 100% lock up if I put some mild pressure on it (holding it firmly). I immediately checked my 0301 but it doesn't have that.

The thing is I live in the Netherlands so returning it to ZT really isn't an option since they don't ship overseas.. :( I got it through a reputable online dealership here in the Netherlands so maybe I could contact them but for now my enjoyment of the knife is completely gone. Adding insult to injury is the fact that I paid 249 euros for it, which equals 340 USD.

That may be it, since I have quite small hands. The ridge sits perfectly between my middle and ring fingers.

For me it's FRN Spyderco's. They all look like something Mattel would put out. G-10 all the way!!

I'd have to say the most disappointing for me was the Buck Spitfire. I searched and searched for an orange one--when I finally got one the pivot wobbled with the blade play- it was horrible. Returned it for a cheaper Vantage Select and couldn't be more happy.

Many moons ago when my youngest daughter was still a kid she gifted me a nib S&W cutting horse pocket knife. I kept it in the hay barn in case one day I'd forget my carry knife. One hot Summer day a few months later,I forgot my knife. Took the S&W out of the box to pop a bail of hay. When I opened the knife it fell completely apart in my hand ! Scales, liners.blade, pins all in the palm of my hand. :o :)

If that happened to me with a cheapo I would crack up:D I had a cuttin horse once and it was pretty decent for $5, but I got tired of it and did a destruction test with it, it did not do well but thats what I expected.
My biggest disappointment is the sog trident and fatcat. The trident is just the cheapest feeling knife I have ever handled and for the $50 I paid and especially the $100+ or so retail its just an overpriced piece of junk. The fatcat is kind of the same thing, no where near the f&f, quality and materials as the $320 price or $600 something retail, also when I received it there was more vertical blade play than any knife I have ever handled, it has since been fixed by sog. As much as I love the design and aesthetics I am still a bit disappointed with it, maybe I will get some cf scales for it someday, but for the price it should have had at least that and a zdp-189 or san mai vg-10 blade instead of plain vg10 I can get on an endura thats about 1/6 the price with better f&f.

After the initial shock wore off of having a hand full of parts in my hand,I laughed so hard I could barely stand. Being as it was a gift from my daughter,I said nothing about the incident. :D

Lionsteel SR2 .. I always liked this knife, piece of art. After many considerations, I bought it and sold it within week - knife is great, but the blade shape is just not for me - to make pierce cut, you have to tilt blade in very steep angle, to pierce the material.. not very usable blade shape

Busse AMS...I bought it from a member here, and as much as I tried to like it, it was too slim for my big mitts. soooo, I "paid it forward" to another member on here.

SYCKO 311 and the sheath I bought to go with it! The biggest POS knife and kydex sheath I've ever purchased. Super dull, hard to even get sharp and the sheath I bought from a very well known maker eats up the handle where it goes into the sheath. And yep I adjusted the sheath so at least I can get the knife out of it. keepem sharp

Buck nighthawk, i used to love that thing until i saw a picture of the tang, which just happened to be in two pieces for some reason
Becker BK9, same thing, except i found that out myself when screwing it apart
Himalayan Imports Ke Tri, handle feels like a lozenge plank, not very sharp, curves forward, i bent the tip easily, guard is cracked, sheath made a weird cracking noise when i put it on my knee
Spyderco Yojimbo&Condor, horrid handle shapes, tiny piece of the tip of yoj snapped off in wood

Kershaw blackout spring broke in two days ,junk of the worse order Jake PS customer service ?

Get in touch with Kershaw Customer Service and they will fix you up. From my experience of owning a Blackout for years, they are a good design.

To be fair, the Yojimbo was not intended to be a bushcraft knife. Or a whittling knife. That's a self-defense knife by design.

Without question...the SOG Aegis. A plasticky pile of mall ninja crap with more wobble in the blade than in Mama Cass' behind...and a spring that broke in half less than 2 weeks after purchase. Not only my biggest disappointment, but the single worst knife I ever bought. Period.

That's really too bad. I found that plastic handled guns and knives have advantages worth having in the rotation. If it's all about looks for you, Spyderco focuses on usability, and ergos first and it will not disappoint in that respect. Some knives out there are truly more deserving of the Mattel designation. Love G10 equally also but in FRN's defense, as an example, I tried to convince myself that my G10 Dfly is superior to my FRN one, but the lighter and thinner FRN gets more carry/use.

APf. I tired there CSD they wouldnt repair it because it was a auto. Army police only Don't matter they stop making rite after that . They are in Walmart where they belong :). Jake

For me it'd have to be a CRKT MDP Stiff Kiss neck knife. Junk steel with a poor heat treat, never could get that thing sharp. The molded sheath dulled any usable edge you could put on it the minute you slipped it in.
