Got her done. Now just have to sand out a few grind marks.

Thanks guys!

I really think this knife is going to become one of my favorite Beckers.

Here's what I've done so far for tonight.

I stripped everything except under the scales. All visible metal has been stripped and sanded.
And yes, the blade is almost black now. I've been using Birchwood Casey's Brass Black for a few months on a lot of my knives. I haven't seen anyone else try this yet? I like the effect it gives to the metal.

Hope y'all knives are delivered tomorrow! Really sucks they didn't come in today.

I'll probably be stripping my 10 as well, but not until I give it a nice deep etch... so it won't be when I first get it, that's for sure. :)

in a week or three, i'll have a contest you can only enter if you didn't strip your knife :) heh heh.

maybe.

:D

do not...... strip..... blade......
fight.....
losing.....
willpower..... slipping.....
pouring..... etchant..... on..... logo....

so, yeah, i'm probably out. :)

buy another new one :>

i did this contest a little while ago. the idea is: a lot of y'all LOVE BECKER KNIVES, but a LOT OF OF Y'ALL do not give the out of box knife even a second look before you discard the sheath, change the handles, strip it, dip it, file notches, grind or cut it up, sharpen it YOUR way.

the whole factory experience is lost. mmm. that's telling. it's now very much YOUR knife, no two alive sometimes.

it is a testament that so many people love modding their knives and being creative and unique.

but it's hard to get a feel for what the base knife is / can do. just something to think about.

me? i almost never strip, do change the edges (esp on choppers), sometimes fiddle with adding handles, or a new sheath, but mostly just leave the things alone - ain't nobody got time for that :D the things mostly just work as is. good stuff.

According to the USPS site, my BK10 is in my mailbox right now. I'll see in about an hour and a half when I get home from work.

Hey look what I got!

A Leatherman Super Tool 300 fits in the pouch but there's barely enough velcro to hold it closed

For those who are curious, the BK2 will fit in the sheath fine but the retention straps won't snap around the thicker handle. This is my BK2 in the BK10 sheath. I could probably stretch it over time if I want to, but I don't care. I'll be bending kydex for both.

my 10 came today as well! wow, it has exceeded what i expected of it already! pictures didnt do it justice, in hand it's much more agile than i expected from the photos. Almost like a tweener with a full size handle

Thats a very good analogy for those who haven't had the pleasure of handling one yet. It is a very versatile blade for that reason and it still chops. Amazing design really.
