Black blades and sheeple

"yu always has rrrealy nice knifes."

Polish co-worker after me helping her to cut up some boxes with my black n black Para 2.

I think I've heard it all when edc'ing my enchmade Rukus. I stopped caring what people think a long time ago. As long as the blade you have isnt breaking any laws who cares if people get scarred.

My experience is that they find them much less offensive than being called "sheeple".

Yes, please reserve that term for youtube troll wars. People that do not know much about knives could care less what color the blade is. To them it is still a deadly weapon.

He's hardly sheeple but a guy I was hunting with saw my Becker BK2 and said "now *that* is a fighting knife". Heh - I think not.

Alas one of those people might be my boss, or someone who will complain to my boss. O_o

In hopes that the blade I carry will not someday be made illegal I prefer to try and win them over with a little common sense rather than not care.

One of the doctors at the company where I work complained to the CFO (who I directly report to) that whenever he comes into my office, I always have pictures of knives and guns up on my computer. He emailed me (my CFO) and told me of the situation, and that maybe I should explain to the doctor who lodged his concerns. So I went to that doctor's office and I explained to him that I have a lot of knives, and trade/buy/sell them, have customs made, and collected swords as well. I also explained that quite a few members of the forums where I do this at, are also gun nuts or in law enforcement or military, and when they post pics of their knives, they sometimes have their firearms in the pic. I also then told him that I carry a knife everyday, and that the type of knife depends on the locale. So he asked me if I would mind showing him the knife I was carrying, and I obliged and flicked open my damascus-bladed kershaw barrage. He said that it was actually really nice-looking, but that it might cause some concern among the other people I work with. I told him that I had a collection.

So the next day, my CFO visits the labs where my office is, and chats with me about the conversation that transpired the previous day between myself and above doctor. He said, "Dr. xxx said you carry around a knife this (and he held out his fingers to illustrate) big. I took it out and flicked it open casually, and he said "oh, that's it? That's barely bigger than a Swiss army knife. From what was decribed, I was led to believe that you were carrying a Bowie." I told him that I was fully aware of the local laws, and that the knife I carried was of legal size, with a blade under 4". Then he smiled and took out a CR Mnandi and said "mine's not as big, but I do live in NYC". :)

Are you scared of your boss or other coworkers? As long as you are not breaking the law or company policy, tell them to pack sand

Would it not be better to reason with them? Yeah, let's keep telling our employers to get bent until all of us risk being fired for having a Case Peanut in our pocket.

With the real possibility that knives could become restricted, I think that we, as knife owners, need to be proactive and try our best to educate non-knifer's in the "way of the knife". Who knows, a redeemed non-knifer may one day be in a position to affect (stop) any knife restriction's that come up. By the same token, the non knifer, now not being redeemed, and in a position to affect knife law, may do so in a very negative way.

My mama, God rest her soul, ALWAYS told me "you catch more flies with sugar than with vinegar". And in practice, I've found it to be true!

Oh yeah, black blades. I have some because I couldn't get the particular knife in a non-coated blade. I don't really get very many comments either way.

I always carry at least a 3.5" blade. After a while my coworkers got used to it. Plus when i use it i dont act like a dumbass Maybe if more people carried a larger blade, then it would be a everyday occurance and people would get used to it. Give them an inch and they will take a mile. If its legal, screw them and carry what you want

Then they write their congressman who then makes a bill making it illegal for you to carry your knife.
