"Black Box" Winchesters

I'm missing 3 or 4 images and will post them here when I have time. Gonna be a while.
There is a very informative post on page number 36. Post #709. It may worth your while to
copy and save it. Good info in this whole thread should you go back thru it. Some very fine collections too.

Fantastic presentation of your BB Winchester collection, Greg — thanks for sharing! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

mckgreg mckgreg your photography of these knives is stunning. Really cool way of showing off several unique angles of each knife in one image.

I can’t imagine how much more popular this series of knives could’ve been, if online knife forums were around back then. I’ve tried a few and been happily impressed with each one I’ve had my hands on.

Can any experts confirm for me that this 1996 Winchester 4930 Congress (came in a black box with yellow lettering) is in fact made by Queen? It looks like a Queen, it’s put together like a Queen, the tang stamps, etch, and blade polish are all similar to my other Black Box knives that had the red lettering on the boxes.

The only reasons I’m questioning its manufacturer is because the springs are lighter than other Queen made knives I’ve owned, although maybe that’s by design because it feels “right” for the knife. Also, I don’t recall ever seeing any other versions of a Queen Congress in this size.

If this isn’t made by Queen, whoever did make it did a great job.

Man, some good stuff being shared here. I think the Whittler is my favorite pattern Winchester made... so far.

Finally able to join the club.
I see what everyone has been talking about, this is a nicely made knife. Everything from the fit & finish, walk & talk, no blade play whatsoever. I found this one with no box & light pepper spots on the blades so it's perfect for a user 👍
