Blade forum user names.

mtnbkr=Mountain Biker. I've been riding for 18 years now. Unfortunately, I haven't ridden much in the past 2 years, so I'm getting out of shape. I use that name on every forum I particpate in.

Chris

"King Knives" was my business name when I was a hobby dealer way back when.
Last name is "King", first name is Joseph. But when i say "Hi, I'm Joe King", nobody seems to take me seriously! :D

The night I signed up I looked up and saw my old cowboy hat I wear and got my log on name. I have three horseshoe nails stuck in my hat. It seemed to fit....

My user name developed itself in high school shop class...
The wood shop instructor also taught drivers ed... Because his class room was attached to the shop you could go in and work on projects during your free periods... as long as he was in his room.
Well, one day I was working on finishing a coffee table and needed to get some stain from his locked supply cabinet... I stuck my head in his door in the middle of his DE lecture, which pissed him off enough to only half listen to my request... I asked for the finish supply cabinet to be unlocked and to open the tool cabinet to get a tool to "pry" open the stain can... All he heard was "a tool to pry with" so he walked over to the tool cabinet, opened it, handed me a 3ft crow bar! and relocked the cabinet... then while running back to his class... said "Don't bother me again!"

Fine.... so their I stood with a nice crow bar in my hands...
Well lets see if this will open the finish cabinet... "Snap"... why yes this works just fine for opening old pad locks...
I got the stain out and finished my project...
Put everything back when I was done... even put the broken lock back on the cabinet:D

Well, next period I get pulled out of my class by the principle... He takes me back down to the wood shop... When we get their the shop teacher is standing by the finish cabinet.

Ended up fixing the cabinet and buying a new lock... then pulled a week of after school "D"

The only thing that remained after the "Pry Bar" episode was my new nick name... PryBry (my first name is Brian) Since then it's served as my CB handle and user name. Only the dozen people in the shop that day really know where the name came from.

Mine means "killed" or "having been killed" in latin. I know, I'm a geek, but I was going over some latin vocab for school one night and I needed a new email account. Then it just sorta caught on and I've been using it for my accounts for a bit more than a year now. I think it's cool, sorta a cross between "internet" and "infection". And we all know how cool infections are!

There are many reasons for my 'handle', some make sense, some do not:

1. I have been using it since 1492

2. I am an alchemist

3. I am strange enough, weird enough, and eccentric enough to be called Paracelsus

4. It's fun

5. Read my forthcoming book: Paracelsus, on why I have such a strange name and burn books about bloodletting.

I knew it would not be taken

Somebody had to become the mascot.

Got that right, Para :p :D

I've enjoyed this thread, it's neat to see the reasonings why folks choose their handle. I didn't pick my handle...my parents did ;)

Glad I asked about your user names. Very interesting to know why you use the name you do:)

Who else is out there?

pahl

No special reason. Tried about a dozen names before I found one that wasn't being used.

One time I was trying to sign up on something and every username I typed in had already been chosen. I just happened to look down at my asthma inhaler which happened to have Qvar50 written on it, so I thought, hey I bet no-one has picked Qvar. They hadn't and I've used it since.

There's little guessing with my user-name... You don't need to know my middle- and last name. I do use my last name on a different www-board - as well as my e-mail address.

Result: I get spam every day and it took quite a while before it got that bad. I'll stop using my e-mail adress on boards in general. :(

Well, I originally found BF the very first day We got a PC. So I went with a no-brainer...my name. Although my email has always been BladeZealot. I decided to go ahead and change my BF name after a while anyway, For I am a true Blade Zealot.

When I find something I feel strongly about, I approach it with a great deal of fervor, or zeal. Thus BladeZealot.

I started capitolizing it in my sig line because some thought it was "blades alot"

I am almost as uncreative as Danelle. ;)

I sign my name as C.D. alot as I never really liked the name Clay. As I have gotten older though, it is easier to just use Clay since that's who people know me as.

I had to come up with a user name for an on-line Air Combat game. I decided to use the pronunciation for "L" (Lima) in the radio alphabet which is Leemah.

My wife and I used to compete in the IHMSA's big-bore handgun silhouette shoots. (Great fun!!) Once, when she was getting into position to shoot her match, as a last bit of cheerleading and encouragement, I said to her, "FLATTEN 'EM!". She looked at me kind of funny, pulled out one of her ear plugs, and said, "Platinum?" It seemed funny at the time, so I bastardized the spelling into "phlatinum".

My dad and I have always had light hearted relationship. I always sharpened his knives as a kid, since I sort of had a nack for it. Once I finished sharpening one of his knives, I'd give it to him for inspection to make sure he was happy with the result. He would jokingly say, "Sure is sharp, but that "wire edge" will roll as soon as I touch a piece of tissue paper!" So, that word has always stuck in my mind. It seemed appropriate for the forum.

The first board I signed up for was GlockTalk.com
I didn't think it was a long term thing, I just wanted to ask some advice, so I tried to think of a humurous handle. This was at the time of the school shootings when people were crying for the banning of all firearms or ammunition. You could hear people on TV every hour of the day crying out that we should "think of the children!" It sounded just like Helen Lovejoy from the Simpsons (I'm a huge Simpsons fan!) As a joke, I started using it as my screen name.

In the past, people have asked whether I'm a counselor or a school teacher. One user accused me of being a pedophile.

When I came over to BFC, I decided to use the same name so my buddies like GlockMan99 would know who I was.
