I keep ‘em in the tubes but I keep my knives in a case so I can check on them lol. I use bigger packets for document storage in fire safes but those change colors as the loose effectiveness.Does anyone keep the little white bags of desicant (sp?) for storage or do y'all discard them? Don't see how much good they are.
Do not eat them.Does anyone keep the little white bags of desicant (sp?) for storage or do y'all discard them? Don't see how much good they are.
What’s that little peanut knife on the bottom? Here ya go, sorry its a crappy pic, my phone takes horrible indoor picsView attachment 1657210

I think for the small ones to work they need to be in an airtight environment and probably still swapped out every few years depending on your local humidity level. Hopefully folks that have theirs in deep storage in their tubes are coated in oil or something like renwax.Yeah, that's kinda what I'm getting at. Once the bag has lost it's effectiveness, all you've got left in the tube is a little bag of contaminants in with your knife. I toss mine FWIW. Never had a problem with GEC knives in tubes before they started dropping the bags in the tubes.
As mentioned earlier, they lose effectiveness if they do their job. A nice added touch of insurance in my opinion.Does anyone keep the little white bags of desicant (sp?) for storage or do y'all discard them? Don't see how much good they are.
Do you all wear the button on your lapel also?
Kind of looks like a snus pouch too! I almost tried it!Wasn't that a piece of candy? I sucked on mine and swallowed it. Had a bit of desicant after taste to it but other than that it was pretty good.
This was my first thought when I saw the photos, I thought it was a new addition to the knives. Bet the drip wouldn’t be so good!Kind of looks like a snus pouch too! I almost tried it!
Pretty sure you can recharge them in the oven, bake off the water.I keep ‘em in the tubes but I keep my knives in a case so I can check on them lol. I use bigger packets for document storage in fire safes but those change colors as the loose effectiveness.
So we’re throwing away the dessicants, sharpening and wearing pins?! We’re animals. Those white dessicant packs will be worth a fortune to collectors down the road.
What with so many forum members sharpening their forum knife, actually using the knife, and now you are tossing the dessicant packs away, I am starting to wonder about most of you. Do you all wear the button on your lapel also?
I will be doing the responsible thing and my forum knife (and button and dessicant pack and styrofoam packing peanuts) will be locked away in a heavy steel ammo box and buried in the backyard never ever to see light of day.
It can’t arrive soon enough.
Mine is only 8 miles with 2 miles of it with a 30 MPH speed limit . But it is uphill both ways .

Nobody ever said anything about desiccant, so I thought nothing of it when it failed to appear. They did say these knives wouldn’t be pink, so I was a little surprised to see pink at four corners at at the edges of the scales. No matter. It’s a damn handsome knife, and very well built.
