Blade Forums Spring Street Barlow (BF Knife 2021)

Well, the person I was going to gift my 2021 BF knife to said; "they'd see how they liked it and if they didn't like it or want to use it, they'd pass it along". Not exactly what I had/have in mind so, I'm not sending it to them. Now what to do? Well, I think I'll punch a dimple in the arch formed by the words "Blade Forums" on the tang so no one can flip it and see if someone else wants it or just use it and put a patina on it. Just don't want someone flipping it. Maybe just leave it in it's tube for the rest of my time and let someone going through my stuff say; "Hey look at this knife. Anybody want it?"

sleep on it? im sure there will be some forum regular who may come back on to find theyve missed it and would like it.

Well, I’m a happy camper today!

Maybe it wasn't a reference to the colour but a reference to the wood being recently cut?

I mean I know you wouldn't normally use green wood for scales but it's what I always think of first when I hear the term.
If it were describing age of the wood it would be “green hemlock” not “hemlock green.” Besides we have other GEC bone colors based on vegetation color such as “chestnut brown.”

Mine came in yesterday. It's a beautiful knife, but was rather bitter sweet to receive. I'm thankful for the hard work put in to bringing this knife to light, yet disgusted with the situation. I would suggest to those that are disparaging the whistleblowers; take some time and visit other parts of the site for the real story, and how the mods have weighed in. I'm a bit frustrated, so I'll just shut up and leave some pics. It really is a gorgeous knife... Very hard to capture the color though!

Well one week with pocket change, another knife, driver bits and sometimes screws and such. The mark side especially has lightened up quite a bit, the pile side has but not as drastically. Anyone else notice the darkest part of the dye wearing off as such? Personally I think it looks far better 🤠👍

Edit: I been sanding allot of sheetrock this week and that crap permeates EVERYTHING, wonder if its acting like rubbing compound in my pocket 🤔
I like this. I debated whether to use mine or keep it as a safe queen. But I’m going to be 73 in January so I figured I’m going to enjoy using it. Working on the patina with Macintosh apples. I still carry it in a pocket slip so the next step is in with the keys and change

That's not the kind of person I'm looking for either.
I want someone that NEEDS it for their big(ger) collection of Forum Knives, or someone I know will cherish it forever.

That's my plan... I'm waiting for the right person to come along and say, "Darn, I can't believe I missed the forum knife"... I'll know it when I see it.
You guys are great :thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:
If I didn't want mine, I'd try to make sure that a porch regular who missed out got it.
As it is, I'm keeping mine ☺️
Besides, its used. Carried it today. No slip or anything. Went bareback 🐻

I agree with Johnnythefox ... enjoy the knife.
That said, the knife was born here in traditionals and shepherded into reality by those who are active in traditionals.
Honestly, I could not care less what other site forums think of the whole thing, but do care how porch members feel.
The real story is here in traditionals.

An absolute stellar job by GEC. Here’s my short thoughts on this knife:

To me the Bladeforums 2021 knife symbolizes two great aspects of traditional knives.
The first, is the knife itself. It is IMO the epitome of quality production traditional knives by Great Eastern Cutlery. An absolute stellar representation of quality handmade Made in USA production traditional’s.
The second, is of course the community aspect of traditional knife collecting. To me, a traditional knife is a little more than just a knife. It represents history and human/American ingenuity and it represents character, most importantly. Character of the men and women who carry and use traditional knives, character of the makers and production companies, and the character of the community who makes collecting so worthwhile.

The unpleasantries over the last few weeks in hindsight will be nothing but a blip when we continue to look at the bigger picture.

Thank you again to all those involved, this is my first Bladeforums knife and I’m very grateful to this community that made having this knife in my collection so worthwhile.
