Blade Forums Spring Street Barlow (BF Knife 2021)

Gary removed the uncivil posts.
I will open the thread.

What's done is done. Hasn't been the Traditional Forum's finest moment for sure.
The only way to regain some normalcy in this forum is to move forward rather than try to punish somebody for something you think they did or did not do.

I am asking that all posters refrain from making a bad situation worse.
Every year, a few flippers get through, even when we vet the buyers.

Don't whine about this year's buying process. Don't defend it, either. Either type of post will be removed.

Just talk about the knives. They are quite gorgeous and worthy of many oo's and ah's.

I would rather not have to issue warnings with points, and I would rather not ban people from this thread. but will if necessary, no matter who is making the fuss.

Now that there are a bunch of them "in hand," does anyone REALLY like or dislike the slight recurve? In use, and/or in sharpening?
I am not a recurve fan and I don't mind it. I haven't sharpened one of the 2021 blades yet, but I did sharpen a couple of the first run, and it wasn't enough to matter even in a guided system. This blade cuts soooooo well that if it lost any points for recurve, it gained them back in belly.

Is it legal to think that you might prefer your stainless 2AB Barlow to your carbon steel 2021 BF Spring Street Barlow?
It is, especially when you put an edge on that 440C and use it, and realize how much longer it stays sharp than 1095 ;) not saying that's my opinion... I have one of each and intend to keep it that way. Been jonesing for a stainless Barlow from GEC for years. But so far the forum knife has been in my pocket every day since I've had it.

You know you want it to be a user, use it.:thumbsup::thumbsup:;):D
Probably. Eventually. It's an absolutely fantastic knife, but it's a lot heavier than I'm used to, especially compared to other single bladed clip point knives. I still think the 2014 #77 Stag Jack is gonna stay my favorite.
I'm glad the second knife arrived Rachel, and thanks so much again for all your help. I checked the tracking earlier, but my knife hasn't left Chicago yet.

Just to clarify, I ordered and paid for my knife, and by prior arrangement, (thanks to Rachel's kind offer), had it mailed to her address. The first knife which arrived was actually the knife Rachel had ordered herself, but she very generously put that one in the mail to me, while waiting for the second knife to arrive. Pretty outstanding I think :)
No problem, Jack. If it falls into the ocean, I'm sending this second one by registered/certified/whatever mail.

Wanted to see how the morning sun and the Spring Street Barlow got along together...
they play nice 😊

r8shell, I felt the very same way and in a conversation with Barrett btb01 btb01 he said the same thing. But since it arrived I have carried it every day. I can't seem to shake it and I'm ok with that and I know that will change eventually, but man I LIKE it :)

I've never had anything go missing, ever, Rachel :) That's incredibly generous of you (typically), but you go ahead and use your knife my friend, if mine falls in the ocean, that's on me :)

agreed, the 2014 stag jack is the GOAT forums knife, the 2021 is a close contender. both knives strike me as one of those will last a lifetime sorta knives. makes me wonder why I let my other user go
