funny story;
even though Chip and me were roomies during the show, we didn't get much time to hang out. So, when it came time to leave Atlanta we made our way through the human centipede known as general clearance together and actually had a lot of fun talking about random shit. I can't remember a time when I actually enjoyed standing in line. After working our way through the line for a half hour at least, we finally got to the x ray machines.

Well, I didn't give anything a second thought, until I was pulled aside and saw the screen showing at least 8 knives- some of them quite large- packed into my backpack at various angles. The guy was like, "uh, I don't think we can let you go any further" and called his supervisor over. "Do we need to escort this guy somewhere?" and "why do you have all these huge knives in your backpack?". I explained that I design knives and that I was at a trade show with my prototypes. All three security workers just seemed bewildered and not really sure how to proceed. I told them I was Canadian.

I sure wish I took a picture of that screen highlighting all the knives, because it was probably the most badass thing I've ever seen. But, I didn't. Instead I turned on the charm and let the universe decide what to do with me. The supervisor looked me up and down, and said "he needs to go to the international terminal". At that point, I realized that not only was I in the wrong terminal, but that I had done EXACTLY the same thing when I was last at the Blade show in 2016.

The agent walked me to the exit, carrying my bag for me, we fist bumped and he wished me luck. It was the best terrifying experience I think I've ever had. Thanks Chip.

And hey, it was really great to see all y'all who made it to the show and intro'd yourselves to me. It means a lot, so thanks for saying hey and for all the nice compliments. I'm fired up to get back to work!

I have a knack for exactly that kind of thing. It's a super power
I got secondary screening in Hawaii for carrying a backpack full of iPod DACs and Amps with braided silver and gold wired cables for all my travel headphones. They thought I was carrying bombs! I sometimes have the worst luck and no superpowers....

I got secondary screening at Charlotte, NC because they detected traces of explosives in my day pack. I had been hiking in places where some precursors for gunpowder were in evidence.

I let them finish and showed my ID afterward and they asked why I hadn't said anything prior. I told them they had a job to do and I shouldn't be treated differently. I also had a private airplane I was traveling on from a dive trip to the Turks & Caicos boarded and closely examined for inbound narcotics.

That went on until one of the Inspectors recognized me from prior narcotics seizures I had orchestrated.

(Best was when I set my wife up returning from Paris and had the dog handler indicate that my wife was carrying narcotics. She was mortified and only caught on when I started cracking up.)

Shit happens.
