BladeForums 2024 Traditional Knife

My views in no particular order.

If you are complaining about the price, pattern, logistics or anything then feel free to present us with the 2025 forum knife and show us how its done. 😁

I put on a free motorbike meet this Sunday,it was like herding cats,I did all the organising,I gave away lots of motorbike freebies, people still complained.🤪

People will always moan about something or nothing. 😅

The only reason I didnt buy this one is because things in England are stupid, the lunatics have taken over the asylum and I dont want trouble nor arguments.

I hope we will get a 2025 knife (maybe take a deposit).

These are nice blades, dremel or no dremel! Anyone who hasn’t been using theirs, you’re missing out on most of the fun 😁

Thanks for all the compliments! I think I’m going to give the leather dye a try sometime soon, potassium permanganate gave it a nice amber color after jigging but that has worn off with use. I’d like to see a more permanent option without having to seal the bone. Here’s a photo of the mark side!View attachment 2948168

Very nice jigging, well done!

I looked at plenty of examples of old Remington, Utica and Rogers bone and would like to think I landed somewhere in that ballpark! I also took a few practice passes on a scrap piece of wood before the real thing, I can’t say it did much to calm my nerves. The wood felt like mush compared to the density of the bone. I was really happy with the depth the factory jigging gave to the end result, the hardest part was getting the pattern to look random!
Did you mark out the jigging placement beforehand?

Although I was very happy with my 2025 BF knife, I got infected by the enthusiasm of the modification guys and thought I'd take a stab at it.

In addition to a dye and jigging job, I decided to shorten the length, re-profile the shape, and to save some weight, eliminate one of the blades.

Here's the before and after pics. ;)

Ehh, I kinda prefer the before!

I was looking forward to receiving mine yesterday, but the weather seems to be conspiring against me. The weather alerts on the USPS website just happen to align with the route the knife will have to take to get from Kentucky to Houston. First it was flooding in the Tennessee Valley area, and now it's a tropical disturbance in the western Gulf of Mexico that might affect deliveries to Texas.
