BladeForums 2024 Traditional Knife

Boooo …. GEC forum knife…shoulda’ done it on a Case where people could afford a good knife and still have pride of ownership and be able to pay their personal utilities…I won’t ever drop $250 to $300 on a forum cost to be a cool item owner …..shameful, and I quit this joint… same bullshit every year in terms of cost…I can more than afford this but refuse to buy something that the average person/enthusiast cannot. I will not contribute anymore and super-mod in charge can pound sand up his ass and should be ashamed. Good bye to all the good, regular American enthusiasts, I’m sure I won’t make a dent in loss of camaraderie over here. Cheers and good nite forever-I’m out, Mike.
I'll butt in here, though neither Peregrine nor I have anything to do with this year's forum knife. But we have in previous years and know a LOT more about the limitations of what can be done than you do.

In past years we've investigated doing a Case BF knife. Case required a minimum order of 500 knives. And the knife we end up with would be a standard pattern with a custom etch on the blade. There is not the market for 500 such knives. Spark can sell 500 GEC knives because of the uniqueness, build quality, and market desirability of anything that GEC makes. There is not a market for 500 Case knives. There just isn't.

Have a nice life.

Yes, many members buy it not just because it is a BF knife but also because it is a GEC knife.
I wonder how many that say will buy any BF knife will actually buy it if it was not a GEC, these days.

If you take the GEC factor out of the equation then you limit the appeal. This could be good or bad, depending on how you look at it. I like GECs and have been collecting them for years. I also like Case nd buy them, but do not really see them as collectibles, for me currently. Maybe in 10 years when Bill retires and GEC moves on or closes Case with the significantly longer history and larger funbase may be more popular, for collectors.

At 2.65 posts per month you have truly interacted and been a major contributor to the forum.

Now you act out like a petulant child. Goodbye and good riddance.

Is the preorder still open?
Yes, Spark gives us updates on the original post.

I don't believe you qualify yet though,
Per the head guy in charge...

(Requirements: Be a Gold or higher member OR have been a member of the forums since 6/2023 with at least 100 posts in the Traditional Forum. Preorder is for people who live in the continental US only, international orders will be separate.)

Its on the drawing board...in my brain😅
Always love to do them.
I consider it an honour.
Just gotta get some specs...but try getting a response from ol kevvo...sheesh thats the real challenge..🤨😙😁.
Seriously I'm just going for it...and will contact GEC direct...only because I have a feeling Kevin is busy and 98% sure I have greenlight...

Here, I'll start you off:

It was a dark and stormy night. The dark of despair, the dark of uncertainty, Would it happen? Will it happen? Can we bear it? Then, with a mighty boom! And with a mighty CRACK! A flash of light reveals it, the 2024 F**** K****!

Oh ye that believe meako meako has a brain take warning. His head is filled only with marbles that once a year settle enough to give us a sensible message.;):)
I kinda feel inadvertently called out here Ed, are you sure you're talking about meako meako ??? 🤣
Although come to think about it, mines more of tv static from faulty rabbit ears & a ping pong ball... 😬🤣

Indeed. Even though I personally prefer non-GECs because I don't like carrying carbon steel knives, I am definitely in the minority here. A stainless steel case knife would be right up my alley, but on years that we don't do a GEC there aren't nearly enough "do-I-qualify?" posters to get the demand up over 500.

I could promise to buy two Case forum knives (heck, I'd promise to buy five if they did a scout pattern), but that wouldn't make up the shortfall.
