Didnāt miss it, but I thought we were talking about the jigged bone and that earlier render does not show it.![]()
We're talking about the 2024 Blade Forums knife. Covers, blades, shields, liners, pins, and the like are up for discussion anywhere in the thread.
Whew. Iām sorry but those are some stinkers when it comes to cover/shield combination on the knife.
I planned on re-covering the knife any way as Iām rarely a fan of GECās jigging (the two Waynorth knives excluded)ā¦. This just makes it that much easier, lol.
Now to decide on a new cover material!
Itās just expectations of people have been shattered by reveal. I really like everything about the stockman personally. But like with everything in life, there are different strokes for different folks.Whyās everyone so mad?![]()
There'll be plenty. It sounds like there will be enough to go around once orders open up again,
Iād send you some stag from a deer ive hunted but Iām about out at the moment. If youāre in no rush I can probably send you a bit for a knife next year if interested![]()
I super appreciate the generous offer!
To be honest though, Iām more of a wood and Micarta/phenolic fan, rather than stag, horn, or bone.
W&C isn't this uptightWhyās everyone so mad?![]()
This is what I'm taking about. I don't believe this was cut with an actual saw, rather, I believe this was cut by a CNC machine and conceived to give the impression of an authentic sawcut pattern. It works because, as you've pointed out, authentic sawcut patterns are typically very regular - just what CNC machines excel at.

I respect the fact that a CNC machine is able to do some operations that a hand tool-wielding human simply can't, and vice versa. I would appreciate if each were used to their strengths. If a CNC machine is to be used, make it something that a CNC machine does amazingly well. If it's to be hand jigged, make it a style that a human could do amazingly well. It pains me a bit to see something as mind-bogglingly capable as a CNC machine being used to imitate the effect of a saw which, likeStraying a little off topic here but I find it a little disingenuous to call something āsawcutā or ājigged boneā if the finish is done via CNC machine.
I love my two 15 sawcut Barlowās from that run but my statement still stands.
I love it too, except the jigging, dye and shield.Whelp, I'll just come right out and say it.
I love it.
