BladeForums 2024 Traditional Knife

I like the amber dyed bone and I could take or leave the shield. But I’ll join in with others and add my wish list.

Amber dyed bone with a random jigging pattern and a morel shield. It just seems like a perfect match to me.

As far as upset watery tummy colors go, yeah, it's a really lovely shade. 😍

And the jigging really adds an interesting element! I mean, I've seen this color before when I've neglected to scrub the toilet bowl for months, but my toilet bowl isn't pockmarked - so this really is quite novel!! 👁️❤️🚽

And that shield just flows so nicely with the whole design, like an impacted blob of fat in a grease drain's outlet pipe. I can understand how arousing the corset shield can be and so of course can totally see putting it on a stockman, instead of a coke bottle pattern, which is the only place a bunch of prudes would say it belongs. A serpentine shield would have been the obvious choice, but obviously we're not obvious people, right? 😎
 
I'm with Charlie about the color, and I, too, have a goodly supply of Potassium Permanganate. It's easy to apply and works great on stag, so no reason it shouldn't work well on bone. The right saturation should produce a beautiful reddish-brown, or dark amber.

It looks exactly like the mockup we were presented with.

If you ordered expecting something different, well I can't figure why anyone would do such a thing. Especially at the price?

I'm going to enjoy mine when it comes! I frankly don't care what anyone else does with theirs.

I just hope there's lots more bellyaching about getting exactly what we were told we were getting. :rolleyes:

birdsbeaks birdsbeaks you’ve been saying GEC is CNCing these knives, and at this point I’m thinking it’s just because it looks that way to you. Do you have a source for this? It seems like this information is getting legs, and I’m not sure if it’s just hearsay or confirmed.

Having been to the factory in the past few months, I saw nothing that even remotely resembled CNC.

I'm just joshing - jocularity all around! 🤣

It's a knife, and I like knives. Even kinda funny ones.

For example, this one has certifiably weird covers - it's hard to capture the full majesty in this light, but there are, like, mica chips, or something, in there and it really makes it more sparkly than I can adequately demonstrate here. Maybe tomorrow in the sunlight. In the meantime, imagine a bright lemon-yellow pearlescent bowling ball. 🤌

There's a moon over Miami, but it isn't helping with these pics. The Under-Microwave light will have to do...

Additionally, it's got a funky choice of shield (and for synthetic covers especially, not particularly well inset), what I like to call the "classic manhole cover." I guess it says things on it, but I can't read them - just a strange design choice in my book. And gold-toned, on yellow bowling ball, with nickel-silver bolsters... like I said, but maybe it's just me? 🎖️

While we're talking bolster engravings - check these out. This takes serializing the bolsters to an extreme I'd never encountered before!! Subtlety? Nuance? Heck NO! Make those numbers as big as the big ol' bolsters on a big ol' GEC 23 can tolerate! And make them thick too! When "064" whips out his daikon dicer, we want people across the street to be able to see who it is! 👀

But, you know, it's fine. It's a knife, and I like knives. A kinda funny one. I guess that kinda makes me like it even more. I'm sure I'll like this one too. I might even like it enough to bother poking fun at it. Who knows? 🤷
 
a wise person would wait and see how the knives look when they… ya know… actually build a couple, instead of heading off to the races taking crap on it.

If I was Spark I’d be changing the order and get pink dyed camel bone with a plain oval shield just to remind people it can always be worse.

I've "been saying?" I'm parroting the speculation of other people on this very forum. I don't even have one of those knives (why I ganked a picture off Google...) so, no, I have no source. Am I supposed to have a source? Pardon me if I find this a bit ridiculous.

"Information?" "Getting Legs?" Ludicrous!! Nothing I say should ever have the opportunity to "get legs."

I’m sorry, I miss understood. It was actually Matt_WY Matt_WY who first said “CNC jigging”. I got lost in all the complaining.
