BladeForums 2024 Traditional Knife

I have more than one recent production Case knife where the jigging continues into the bolster. Never seen that on any of my GEC's.

I certainly hope we're not trying to compare Tony Bose knives to those of GEC... This discourse started with complaints about the forum knife being light on the edges. This sparked discussion about why this is common on factory knives and what is required to avoid it. Tony Bose did it as close to perfect as anyone can reasonably expect. And, we can see from the discussion above exactly how much work is required to do that. It's not reasonable to expect GEC or any other manufacturer to achieve the same results.

The counter argument being made by others is that Case and even Rough Ryder are able to achieve pretty consistently good results. Why can't GEC meet that bar? I don't think anyone can answer this question, but it is also very subjective. It assumes you like the aesthetics of a Case or Rough Ryder's bone over GECs. While, in my opinion, some GEC knives fall short in the dying/jigging department, on other knives they blow Case / Rough Ryder out of the water; see Charlie's City Stock.
Apples and oranges in my opinion...

Just as you wouldn't compare Bose to GEC, I wouldn't compare Case and Rough Ryder with GEC's either. Very different operations and processes between the companies...

I don't think it is a question of whether GEC can or can't do, I think it is more to do with what Bill wants to do and whether his choice jives with the buyers. Already in couple of pages, there are a lot who thinks the jigging/color is acceptable, those who hates it, and those who don't really care....I think there are a few who had a 'vision' of what the knife 'should' look like and it didn't mean expectations...

As stated above, this may not be considered a problem given the popularity and limited number of the releases.

So from I’m reading is no more payments are being taken now and when the knives come in what’s left will be sold first come first serve ? Or is there an official waiting list for next in line with payments accepted now ?

Update: I've been informed that there are 25-30 seconds and 25 or so with "different" handle materials that have been produced. I will provide pictures and pricing when possible.

Looks like we're getting close!

This just seemed like it's still applicable:

Exactly. GEC is capable, they’ve made several with fully dyed handles. Is it possible they’ve made a choice to have the contrast on some?
