BladeForums 2024 Traditional Knife

Number 98 checking in. 98 was luck of the draw. I didn't request any numbers.

I put it on my Gritomatic goniometer, and the bevels seem quite steep. Running from 25° on one side of the blade to 30° plus on the other. So I can see a reprofiling job coming up.

I had to bust out my manticore stone from Baryonyx to fix the garbage bevels on mine. Burrs and all. Still not as bad as the Case Bonestag trapper I just got, which actually had unsharpened edges at the choil and tip. The only thing being professionally ground lately is my gears.

My Blade Forums annual pocketknife arrived today at High Noon (do not forsake me oh my……). It is every bit as nice as the ones already pictured above and it checks all my boxes in what I look for in a nice pocketknife. The W&T is right at a 7 on the Clip, a 6 on the Sheepfoot, and a 5-1/2 on the Spey. There is no blade rub between the Clip and the Sheepfoot blades (that’s fairly uncommon in a Stockman pattern), the springs lie perfectly flat while closed and when the blades are fully open, F&F is right on as well - bone to frame on all meeting edges is smooth as glass. The color is mid-range from what I have seen so far - very pleasing to the eye (maybe a half shade darker on the pile side). I even got my requested number of 117, my old OA Lodge number from my boyhood and early teen years. Finally the matte finish on the blades is a very nice touch vs. highly polished. Thank you Spark and thank you GEC - you guys have really upped your game over the years. OH
I don't know how I made the connections I did here, and I know we've never met in person or even talked on the phone. But, stockman's are my favorite pattern and you and Will Power Will Power are the first forum members that come to mind. Always appreciate your guys posts and you've both taught me a lot. Was excited to see your feedback on this knife as I wait for mine. Glad it's up to your standard as it makes me even more certain it will be up to mine.

Yeah, it didn't surprise me. I expected the grind to be off some. I don't think I have ever found a factory sharpened blade, from any brand, that wasn't off some. But I have never checked a GEC before, so was interested to see what they were like.

Checking in to this thread after a few weeks of inattention. I was just wondering where we were in the shipping process as we tip over into the new year. I don’t remember what number I requested, but it had to be in three or four digits. Now that I see where we are, I can rest easy.

First impressions, it's a big A$$ knife. 😲
...
Side by side with the 2021 knife for comparison.

I like photos of knives next to rulers!:thumbsup::cool:
And I'm going to play Crocodile Dundee here, and show you the 8" closed Rough Ryder 30th Anniversary Stockman my wife gave me for Christmas, to show what a REAL big A$$ knife looks like. 😁

Serial numbers like 007, 42, 420, 69, 111, 222, 333, 444, 555, 88, 13, 223, 556, etc are snapped up very quickly. One person requested 6 different serial numbers and the first 4 were taken. Basically if you want a specific low number? You have to get it in quick. Anyhow I'm hopefully going to be done shipping in the next couple days.

I know from experience the fun of driving those packages to the post office.
I hope there is a nice bourbon ( or preferably a Tennessee Whiskey) to be enjoyed by a fire in your future,

A nod to Gus here. He was a great help and still a driving spirit in these Forum knives.
