I’m so old that I have dialed a rotary phone (that didn’t have an answering machine), recorded a song off a transistor radio onto a a tape recorder, watched a black and white TV with less than 10 channels that had aluminum foil on the rabbit ear antennas, taken a long walk without counting the steps, and eaten food that I didn’t take pictures of.
Cool! So you grew up in Southern Indiana in the early 1990s too? ;)

Same. Too much skateboarding, weightlifting, and trying to keep up with my kids.

I lurked since the inception, but didn’t join for a couple years because I “didn’t want to get all addicted to knives like all the poor saps on here”. And here I am, addicted to knives just like all the rest of you poor saps. 😆

I don't think I like your tone, sir. I can quit, I can quit at any time. So, mind your bus...what? So do it now? No, no, I meant, uhhhhh....I meant, like, any uh, OTHER time. I can quit some other time, is what I meant. Jeez, callin' a guy out here.  😅

I’ll be 48 this month. I’ve been interested in pocket knives for as long as I can remember.

37 years young… LOL!
I saw the rotary phone too (though most phones were button ones). Saw the rise and fall of Nokia. Grew my childhood in the 90’s and youth in the 00’s (wich I feel nostalgic about these days). Did you know that the first LOTR movie came out 20 years ago? Yeah, let that sink in.

51 here.

I like having at least some idea of the ages of the people I'm conversing with.

A few years back, when I was in my late 40's, another member in a discussion here in General presumed to give me some unsolicited advice, not about anything knife-related, but advice on how I should live my life and what sort of attitude I should have to be a happy person. His advice was somewhat condescending and smug, as if coming from a place of great knowledge, experience, and wisdom. I didn't respond, as I'm not inclined to get offended by something someone says online.

A few weeks later, in another post, that member revealed to the forum that he was 16 years old. I couldn't help but laugh thinking about the advice he had given me, based on his extensive life experience.

Now don't get me wrong, I have nothing against the youngsters, some teenagers are wise beyond their years. But I've been around the block more times than a city bus, and I've got the dents, dings, and mileage to show for it. If someone is going to give me advice on anything, I'd like at least to know if they are old enough to shave.

Now you kids get off my lawn 😠
