I think this should be taken as just a friendly choice of knives from personal preference based on the pictures posted by forumites as entries.

That being said, I would be thrilled to own any of the entries, but the Dean posted by Kevin Jones in the Chuck Ward photo gets my vote.

This is a fantastic thread to see amazing knives whatever the outcome.

Each submit five finalist?

I liked your idea of a slightly longer list, so here's the way it will go:

1) Each member may submit up to 7 suggested finalists. You don't have to submit as many as 7, but don't submit any more than 7.

2) Please include the post number where your selected knife can be found - this will help clear up any undertainty in the case where there are multiple knives by a given maker among the initial entries.

3) Still be as specific as you can in your description of the selected knife.

4) Please feel free to include a few words about what appeals to you about any given selection.

5) When all votes are in, we add up the numbers (each time a knife is put forward by someone as a finalist, that effectively counts as one vote for that knife) and the top 5 will be voted on by polll in a new thread.

I also have an integral bowie, but I won't have a pic for tomorrow...

kevin....what was engraved on the ruth bowie.....do you have any pictures.....ryan

I examined this piece at Blade before engraving, then the fellow who purchased it (a regular @ the Fisk Micro Show) had Steve put some scroll on the flat of the guard. I don't have a photo.

Funny, as I was going through the thread picking my favorites I started to notice how many of the pieces I have been fortunate enough to examine.

The count is currently 14. I must go to too many shows. ;)

As per thin-ness of skin... ;)

It's probably a valid concern, but let me say why before you get too riled up! :D

A lot of makers like to project the, "I don't give a f' what you think of me or my work. I'm my own man, my own boss... nobody's opinion is gonna affect me," type of persona.

Yet on the inside, they're quietly standing behind their table thinking, "PLEASE LIKE MY KNIVES! PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE!!!" :D

LMAO!!! :p :D

Okay, that was partially kidding ;)

As far as I can say for myself. My feelings will NOT be hurt however you do this.

As passionate as I am about my work, and as dedicated as I am to making the best knife I can. I would not pick mine as the winner. There are some EXTREME knives in this thread!!!

It may sound too much like "warm and fuzzy/feel good crap" but I am just happy to have a couple thrown into the mix. To look at the amount of time I've been making knives, and the output that I have had the last couple years... It's a HUGE deal (for me personally) to be included in this thread where you'll find some of THE BEST in the business represented.

When you consider that two of the like 6 bowies I made last year are in here, that's not too shabby :D ;) (yes, for you slower types, that was a bit of a dig on myself) ;)

We need to enroll you in a knifeaholics anonymous program... :D

1. Post #1 Russ Andrews, JS - ginormous mammoth ivory S-guard, owned by Keith Montgomery.

James Bowie would approve. This is of the Bowie Bros. taste in a fighting knife. Bona Fide.

Yes - not made in 2007, but first shown on the forums in 2007. I told him he ought to post it up and that he had 'til midnight. But of course, you are free to post it yourself. ;) It is a fantastic piece.
