BladeHQ Para 2 exclusive M4 w/ Jade G10

Well, given my affinity for high apex-stability steels, I couldn't exactly resist picking up a PM2 in M4:

Re-profiled to around ~8-10 DPS freehand on my Atoma 140, then polished using my Sigma Power Select II 240x, King 1000x and King 4000x before having a convex microbevel applied using 16 micron CBN emulsion on a suede bench strop.

I'm really impressed with the fit, finish and ergonomics of the PM2. I am very much looking forward to the upcoming 52100 sprint to add a second to my EDC rotation.

Incidentally, would anyone have a recommendation for who makes the most ergonomic aftermarket handle scales for the PM2?

Check out Sketchen scales.

Some pictures of mine now that I'm home. :D

Same here. No real patina yet, even cutting up some raw meat just now (steaks for dinner). I was going to let it form through use, but now I'm thinking of doing a forced patina now.

Glad you were able to score one, man.

It will remove it all if you work hard enough but I just kinda made it look more even between dips. Then in the end I was able to remove all the bronze and it left the blade just darker. Turned out like this.

are those the scales you dyed? looks like they came out pretty good?

Agreed. How did your scales turn out Joe???

That's very nice looking SpeedHoles. Thanks for sharing.

Whoops, maybe you misread my quote of Grayson as being my own photo? Not mine, was just admiring them and saying how it reminds me of the Pattada!
And he replied they are made by a guy named Aramis.

But, here is a quick shot of mine. I enjoy the raw G10. I also enjoy summer evenings on the deck. :)

So as mentioned, I had never seen a PM2 in person before. I thought this run looks great, so thought it was a safe way to try one out, and always be able to sell it if I didn't like it.

Well, I did like it. I actually really, really like it.

It's hard to overcome the instinctive muscle memory that is unlocking a frame lock, but that will come with time.

There are a few thugs I would change and a few questions. I would like it if the edges of the g10 were chamfered a bit, kind of like a sebenza. I wouldn't mind a little less grip on the texture but that's fixable I suppose, and a bit subjective.

Other than that? I've got nothing. It's so entertaining to middle finger flick open.

I do have a question. I've seen people post vids of the blade free falling when releasing the lock. Mind doesn't. It's almost like a Sebenza. I haven't added any oil or messed with the pivot. It works fine so I didn't bother. I was curious if there's just a variance in tolerances or just adjustment made by folks.

There is plenty of variance, as with any mass produced product made by humans.
But my advice would be to just enjoy it as is (which it sounds like you are plenty!), and wear it in with regular use!
All of my Paramilitary 2's have had varying action out of the box, but with use they all became buttery smooth.
Would rather they start a bit tight and work in, rather than start fast but then develop play that has to be monitored and adjusted.

Thanks. Yeah, I'm not worried or even consider there an issue at all. I was just curious by way of explanation. It couldn't really fiction any better. And man, did it come wicked sharp. Hands down the sharpest factory edge I've ever EVER had.

I've had them vary across almost all of the sprints/exclusives, but they all seem to smooth out after using them for a bit.

Personally, I don't want a blade that free falls that way. I prefer to close it myself; and will tighten the pivot a little, if necessary.

I'm not a fan of the PM2 scales; but I like the knife itself, so I replace them. I would smooth & shape them a bit, and let it go at that...but they're already pretty slim.

Agreed. There's something wrong with a washer pivot if it falls closed. They're not baring pivot flippers.

Like this, I'm happy. This is a user/worker. No reason to baby it now.

I put a razor sharp polished edge on it a few days ago. The hair shaving edge is gone after cutting lots of warehouse cardboard, straps and plastic wrap but you would never know it by its real world cutting ability. Still cuts like it did right after I sharpened it. I kept the factory edge angle but whenever it looses its edge I'll change it to a 36/40 so I can touch it up on a SM.
