Blades & Bourbon

Where did you buy those from if you can share please ? Pinhook site or Seelbach ? I’ve done the same thing, just don’t have the 7yo from the same lineup…

Got these direct from Pinhook now that I'm on their text-to-buy list.

If you go to their webpage for Bourbon War 7 here & click on BUY NOW, a pop-up screen will open where you can register your phone number for the service.

As soon as they send you a text reply, you can tell them what you want to buy.

If it's currently available and if you don't have an acct w/them yet, they'll ask you to set one up w/all the necessary info and will send your order to you in due course. If it's not currently available (as was the case for Bourbon War 7 for me), they'll put you on a wait list and will contact you when it becomes available.

If you want to skip the pop-up screen, text Pinhook directly at 859-800-7848 with an order for Burbon War 7 (or whatever else you want to buy) and see what happens.

Good luck!

Thank you Marty, I’m familiar with the process, just never completed it.
will do, I hope you like the 7yo, I find 6yo progressively better than 5 and 4.

An earlier post reminded me that Russell's Reserve10 was one of my favorites out of over 50 different bottles of bourbon that I purchased and drank over the past year. So, I just bought an opened another bottle. :)

BTW, out of the over 50 different bottles of bourbons that I've purchased and tasted over the past year, the following 5 are/were my favorites: Eagle Rare 10, Old Forrester 1920 - Prohibition Style, Michter's US1 - Small Batch, Stillhouse Black Bourbon and Russell's Reserve 10.

So, I'm "done" buying/trying any other bourbons, except by the dram at a bar or restaurant, like the Rip Van Winkle that I tasted recently and that I cannot afford to buy by the bottle. ;)

These are the 10 bottles that currently are in my "Library Collection" of Bourbons. I have not opened any of them yet and, given how hard they were for me to find and what they cost me, I probably will not open any of them for a long, long time.

I've somehow still never tried the small batch Russell's Reserve. I'll have to remedy that in the near future. It will be interesting to see how the flavor compares to the higher proofed single barrel (which I've enjoyed for years).
I've also never tried the Stillhouse Black. I'll have to check on its availability locally.
Have you tried 1792 Full Proof?

Knob Creek 12 yr, for me, is far more enjoyable than the 9yr (small batch)...it costs about twice as much (here); but I've had a few bottles. The 9yr single barrel is less expensive, and I like it better (I have been buying a local shop's barrel pick for several years); so I probably won't keep revisiting the 12 yr.

I'm glad that Eagle Rare seems to have gone back to normal after last year's ridiculous price hike... Buffalo Trace has significantly amped up their production and storage capabilities; so it will be interesting to see if the allocation practices continue...and if the prices are allowed to adjust accordingly)

Yup, it's one of the +50 bottles bought and emptied. ;)

Eagle Rare is the bourbon that I like the best but I'm still not seeing a lot of it in NorCal.

So, I'm maintaining a "reserve" of 6 bottles in my "wine cellar." Just bought 2 bottles of it from my local BevMo shop to replenish the reserve but I had to ask for it; it wasn't on the shelves but was still being shown in their inventory. The price was $35/bottle, which I believe is MSRP.

I'll buy at least a couple of bottles where ever I see it from now on so that I'll never run out of it.

Did I reply to this one in another thread? Somewhere between all the threads around here, Instagram, and the effects of the bourbon; it's hard to keep straight. 😜

Anyway, Buffalo Trace took over as my regular or "house bourbon" a few years ago. I raised this glass with a few fellas earlier this evening. One of them had never tried it before. He is normally a Knob Creek guy. That used to be a go-to for me and I still like it, so we had a nice time talking about it.

Eagle Rare is $44, here. Last year, when it could be found, it was just shy of $100. Regular Buffalo Trace shot up to $70-80 last year; which I found beyond laughable.
Needless to say, I bought neither

Just looked this one up and I changed my mind - not a coffee drinker 🤢

It's cheap, less than $30. The coffee is not that prominent and I like the way it uniquely favors the bourbon. But, then again, I am a coffee drinker. ;)

I think the most that Iever paid for Eagle Rare was $45.. Buffalo Trace was one of the 1st bourbons that I tried when I started on my bourbon binge.

It's widely available around NorCal but but I immediately switched to Eagle Rare after I tasted it.

Don't think I've ever seen Buffalo Trace over $25-30. It's "on sale" at my BevMo right now for $25. I certainly wouldn't consider it at $70 because there are a lot of other bourbons priced at that level that are as good or better.

I miss the days when I could get bourbons shipped from out of state. One of the many reasons to dislike the former governor...

What state are you in? I'm getting both wine and liquor shipped to me in CA w/o any difficulty (so far).
