Blades & Bourbon

10-4 on that Covid taking away your smell. I had a great sense of smell, so much I could smell anything in the house before anyone.

Now Im asking my kids to smell the milk before pouring it into cereal in the morning!

I still remember when it was bad. I could smell most of the bad stuff, like the garbage needing to be changed or someone blowing up the bathroom. What I couldn't smell were nice things like flowers, vanilla, the woody notes in bourbon, the malty notes in beer, or even peeling a ripe orange. :(

Having taken a winter break from smoking, I used my spring return to cigars as part of my smell therapy and a gauge on recovery. I remember noticing things as the sense slowly returned. It took months and never fully recovered, but I'm thankful for what I got back. Now I can enjoy all this stuff again. :)

I lost my sense of smell for a couple weeks after the last bout with it. After a couple weeks it was back. Hope yours returns.

The last bottle of Town Branch I had was bought at the distillery. It was 129 proof; this one is only 113 and I'm hoping it compares well.
The Russell's Reserve I bought because sgt1372 sgt1372 reminded me I've never tried it. Haven't seen it locally for a while, and it was on sale for under $30.
The Old Ezra 7 was the reason for the trip. I got them to transfer it from another store for me.
The Jack Single Barrel is the outlier - I'm not really a fan; though I'll admit it was a good bit more tolerable the last time I tried it. At that time, I commented that it would probably be a lot better at 110 proof. The listing on the website showed it at 120 something; but, when I got there, the bottle said 131.5. Depending on the day, I might want a bit of water for that.

Not a Jack fan in general, never tried the Town Branch, but IMO the Ezra 7 and Russel 10yo are outstanding drinks for the price.

Lots of EH Taylor pics being posted. I’m nursing my bottle of single barrrel that I posted above. I’ve had this bottle for 5 years!! It is nowhere to be found around here anymore (RI). I miss the days of just being able to walk into the local packy and just grab one.

The Taylor is a beautiful pour, love it too. They are lots of unicorns and curios around. My most valuable bottle is probably the Old Ridgemont Reserve 1792, barrel select.
I had the bottle for about 7-8 years. Purchased it for a friend's birthday party but we never went to it and about a year later I opened it and
immediately stashed it. It's my Holiday treat... 😁
