Blades & Bourbon

It's $55 plus tax or about $59.74/bottle.

I'm not going to make another "special" trip to buy another bottle because it costs me about $60 in gas and tolls just to drive to/from The City.

That makes the actual cost of the 2 bottles that I bought already $90 each!

Chances are it will be sold out before I get back into The City again but it's on my "to do" list if/when I drive back into town again for another reason.
Oh, on the original site it was $50, but sold out now. Yeah not worth it for that much extra cost and time

It's not time yet...but I'll likely sipping WT Kentucky Spirit at some point tonight (lots to do - I'll need some motivation to keep going)

Headed back out to the Woodinville distillery yesterday. The wifey likes a couple of wineries out there, so we visited those, grabbed a bite for supper, then did a tasting at the distillery for after-dinner drinks. Started with the Port finished Bourbon, which I already know is one of my favorites and drink at home regularly. Then went with a limited run of Port finished Rye, then Cask-Strength Bourbon, and finished up with another favorite the Cask-Strength Rye. Went home with a fresh bottle of the latter. Aside from being a cool experience, Woodinville has really become one of my very favorite distilleries.

Experiment 3 was a success. This little Nicaraguan Cohiba paired well with the Maker's Mark 46. While I like the Nicaraguan better than the Honduran as standalone smoke, the Cohiba Blue might have made a better pair. It's hard to tell with the weather being so cold and windy.

Im more of a beer, IPA guy that occasionally has a mixed drink with Titos Vodka.

But Ive been watching this thread and have been looking for Eagle Rare. I seen some Knob Creek tonight in a few flavors but not sure which to buy for my first drink.

Another brand I want to try was Whistle Pig but damn, the price!

By first drink, do you mean you are new to bourbon? It's a fun rabbit hole to explore. Sipping gently neat and lingering at the nose is best for the full flavor and aroma experience. Regular Knob Creek is excellent but if you are new, 100 proof can be a little more challenging that way. Buffalo Trace is another solid choice, coming in at 90 proof and usually a little less expensive. It's been a long while since I've had it but I remember the regular Basil Hayden being very nice at 80 proof.

First drink, I guess I mean the good expensive stuff you all are drinking. Ive had Jim Beam many times in my youth along with Jack Daniels.

I just wanted to try a more expensive brand sipping nice and slow instead of doing shots.

F Frank Morris No need to start expensive - it may take some time to appreciate it. Look for Buffalo Trace or Bowman Brothers (the latter is probably less expensive; but I think it's just as good, and a decent sipper).
Makers Mark is a decent choice - a bit softer, less spice - and widely available.
Jim Beam Black, too...it will be familiar; but more approachable than the white label.

This is it. There is a reason Buffalo Trace took over as my house bourbon. Sure, I drink other bourbons but I always have a bottle of Buffalo Trace. It's a solid step up from stuff like the entry-level Jim Beam. It's good enough for snobs to enjoy neat but still under $30 a bottle in lots of places.
