Reads like a diary of a man who made his living as a hunter in Pennsylvania. Being born in 1782 things were quite different and makes for interesting reading. A pocket knife was not mentioned in the book, but I believe if the writer had owned this one he would have cherished it. I know I do... thanks Brett.

Wow. How does the stag get so red. It almost looks like it has absorbed red dye. Is this one from the recent run?

Great thread with some very interesting knives and books. Here is an Italian folder from Scarperia sitting on a book about knife construction from Scarperia.

Travman, you are correct it is a 72 from 2010. Indoor lighting with my camera tends to tint the subject slightly red. To the eye the stag which has been dyed red appears more brown.

I enjoy photographing my knives atop books, especially old pulp novels, but I generally crop so tightly that most of the cover isn't in view. Not today!

This has quickly become my favorite thread here on BF, so I figured I may as well start contributing. Office carry today, a US made 34OT and a good book to pass the time between calls.

Awesome pic. That's a beautiful knife, and I LOVE old pulpy covers!

Love books on history but when I just want to be transported to an earlier, simpler time this book is one of my all time favorites. Have read it several times:o

Paul, you inspired to get a copy of this book. It just arrived today. I don't have a lot of time for reading but I couldn't resist getting a copy after reading the description and reviews. It's going to take me a long time to read these 608 pages but I'm really looking forward to it. Sounds like a great book

Thanks for the inspiration.
