Thanks Henry. I'm due for a rereading of The Border Trilogy soon, but you made me shudder just now, remembering the grim prison fight sequences in All The Pretty Horses. I guess prison crafted shivs are a kind of well established traditional knife style, if you think about it.:eek:

These books seem more fitting to be read in deadtree editions to me, but I've been meaning to download a Kindle copy, just so I can do a word search for all the other traditional knife references that crop up in the narrative.
