I love this book. It caught my eye in an antique mall, but the copy was grubby for $10. Having much bitter experience in just how little monetary value a beautiful old book can have, I tried Abe books and found a cleaner one for $5.20.
Pub.1942, written by a woman who had been living in the Rangeley Lake region for 6 years. She and her husband were both licensed guides in Maine, the phone line ended at Brown's Farm, which wasn't a farm, ... anyway, much info and more humor.

The folder is a Kent.

screened porch screened porch - Look for - The ONE EYED POACHER IN THE MAINE WOODS - out of print but a hilarious read - about the ongoing conflict between Mr. Ranger and Mr. Poacher. If you find 2 copies please look me up for a pass it on - of course I'll cover all expenses. Thanks.

I think I read the one you show but will need to check. Might have been too many long years ago for me to remember the specifics. :( I'm an Abe Books shopper too.

It used to be I could pick up a book, read the first line, and remember the whole story. Now I just get a nagging sense of familiarity.
I'll keep an eye peeled for that One-eyed Poacher.
Abe's great. I lent Walter Edmonds' The Musket and the Cross to somebody who still has it. Rather than badgering him when I wanted to check on something, I just ordered another from Abe.
Also from Abe: too much detail on fiddle-whittling, and not much general enough to help with my uke project, but not a painful investment.

I posted a cropped version of this photo in the "What Traditional Knife are you Totin' Today" thread already, but I didn't know that there was a thread specifically for knives on books. So, behold three knives on the steam tables copy that got me through Thermodynamics at OU.
